Genesis has unveiled the GV90, its first full-size flagship SUV, built on an eMP platform exclusive to the Genesis flagship and carrying a 123.5 kWh battery with an estimated 311 miles (500 km) of range. The production model was shown at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco this week in two variants: a standard GV90 with conventional swing doors, and a GV90 Neolun fitted with the Neolun Arch Gate, a hidden B-pillar coach-door system the company says is the first to open and close independently. Genesis describes the GV90 as a production model derived from the NEOLUN concept revealed in 2024.

How Far Can the Genesis GV90 Travel on a Charge?
Genesis rates the seven-seat GV90 at approximately 311 miles (500 km) on a single charge, a figure the company attributes to internal R&D testing rather than a certified regulatory cycle. On a 350 kW fast charger, the pack moves from 10% to 80% in 22 minutes. The 123.5 kWh pack is the largest capacity among Hyundai Motor Group’s electric vehicles, and a Wireless Battery Management System is used to improve packaging efficiency.

Powertrain, Suspension and Braking Hardware
The front and rear motors combine for 490 kW (657 horsepower) and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm). The GV90 is the first Hyundai Motor Group vehicle with a Dual E-LSD, mounting electronic limited-slip differentials on both motors to apportion torque during high-speed cornering and to limit wheel slip on low-grip surfaces.
Multi-chamber air suspension with adjustable-stiffness air springs manages ride height, paired with mono-tube dual-valve electronic control suspension dampers that vary damping force. Active rear-wheel steering turns the rear wheels up to five degrees, which Genesis says brings the turning radius down to that of a mid-size car. Braking hardware includes a four-piston monobloc caliper with large-diameter pistons at the front axle and a high-capacity brake disc system.
Body Structure and Occupant Safety
With no B-pillar on the Neolun, Genesis substituted high-strength dual steel beams to disperse collision loads and built a concealed roll cage by reinforcing the cabin with a frame 1.5 times thicker than conventional vehicles, fortified with high-strength steel tubes and structural foam. The company states this achieves crash performance equivalent to vehicles with conventional B-pillars.
The GV90 carries 12 airbags. The Roof Airbag deploys across the roof glass in a severe rollover to prevent occupant ejection; passenger seats add a dual-depth airbag that stages deployment by occupant posture, and seat-cushion airbags resist submarining under the belt. Curtain airbags extend to the third row, and the first- and second-row side airbags and driver’s knee airbag are enlarged.
The underbody uses a cast and extruded aluminum skeletal structure, with aluminum applied extensively to exterior panels. A front deflector steers the vehicle laterally in a small overlap crash to reduce A-pillar deformation, and a slider structure ahead of the battery redirects the motor and subframe beneath the vehicle in a frontal impact. Battery protection extends to Thermal Runaway Protection cell separation and a cloud-based BMS pre-diagnostic function that flags anomalies to the driver.
Cabin Technology and Interfaces
A New Power Control System eliminates the start button: pulling the door handle powers the vehicle on, the Motion Column Shifter rotates into position, and the car starts on the brake pedal. The pop-up center OLED Cinematic Display spans 23.6 inches while driving and rises 3.5 inches (90 mm) when parked to expose a 24.6-inch surface, roughly 1.7 times the retracted area. A 25-inch head-up display replaces the instrument cluster.
Infotainment runs on Pleos Connect, Hyundai Motor Group’s Android Automotive-based platform with third-party app downloads through the Pleos App Market, and includes the Gleo AI generative assistant. Remote Smart Parking Assist 3 and Memory Reversing Assist handle automated parking and reversing out of confined spaces.
Design, Trim and First Edition
Wing Face Micro Lens Array headlamps span the front fascia beneath a clamshell hood, laser-engraved to integrate with the bodywork, and the rear omits a spoiler in favor of flush-mounted surface-emitting taillights. Sixteen exterior colors are offered — 13 gloss and three matte — alongside five interior combinations for the GV90 and five exclusive schemes for the Neolun.

The Neolun Executive Suite four-seat configuration adds a wood veneer second-row floor with radiant heating drawn from Korean ondol underfloor heating, a Comfort Partition isolating the trunk, and a Smart Vision Roof using PDLC film controllable across six zones. Genesis also unveiled the GV90 Neolun First Edition, a limited release topping the Executive Suite lineup with a two-tone exterior palette, body-color 24-inch forged wheels, standard wool cashmere garnishes and exclusive logo engraving, offered in three color combinations.
