In a significant move to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles in the commercial sector, Greenlane Infrastructure and Volvo Trucks North America have announced a new partnership. This collaboration aims to enhance the charging infrastructure for heavy-duty electric vehicles (HDEVs), making it easier for fleets to transition to zero-emissions transportation.

Key Highlights:

  • Greenlane and Volvo partner to improve HDEV charging access.
  • Greenlane’s charging network integrated into Volvo’s Open Charge service.
  • Benefits include seamless access, real-time information, and centralized billing.
  • Greenlane opening flagship charging location in Colton, CA, with more sites planned.
  • Partnership supports zero-emissions freight transportation.

Through this partnership, Greenlane’s charging locations across North America will be fully integrated into Volvo’s Open Charge service. This integration allows drivers to easily locate charging stations along their routes, ensuring trip planning is efficient and reliable. As Volvo’s first official Charge Point Operator (CPO) in North America, Greenlane offers real-time access to its network, providing Volvo customers with frictionless public charging, centralized billing, and exclusive benefits.

The collaboration delivers substantial advantages for drivers and fleet managers. By offering seamless access to Greenlane’s charging services via Volvo Open Charge, it simplifies the management of electric fleets. The expansion of public charging points reduces the need for fleets to invest in their own costly infrastructure, cutting both capital costs and operational challenges. This also extends the range of electric trucks, supporting long-haul operations. Notably, Greenlane’s infrastructure is open to all heavy-duty battery electric vehicles, broadening its impact beyond Volvo customers.

Greenlane will launch its flagship charging hub in Colton, CA, in April, equipped with over 40 chargers for heavy-, medium-, and light-duty zero-emissions vehicles. The company is also developing a nationwide network, with plans for additional sites along the I-15 corridor in Long Beach, Barstow, and Baker, CA, spaced 60 to 90 miles apart. This partnership is a pivotal step toward widespread adoption of heavy-duty electric trucks. Greenlane and Volvo are dedicated to enhancing the customer experience, with plans to add features like booking reservations to Volvo Open Charge. By alleviating the need for fleets to build their own charging depots, Greenlane enables a smoother transition to electric vehicles.
