The Drivers’ World Championship remains unresolved heading into the finale. Dennis holds 146 points, two clear of Evans and five clear of Wehrlein, leaving all three mathematically in contention across the weekend’s two races.
The Teams’ championship will also be settled in London. Jaguar TCS Racing carries a 14-point lead over Porsche Formula E Team into the double-header. Porsche has already wrapped up the Manufacturers’ World Championship.
What Makes the Excel London Circuit Unusual?
Excel London is the only venue on the Formula E calendar that combines indoor and outdoor running. The 1.29-mile (2.077-kilometer), 20-turn layout begins inside the exhibition halls at Royal Victoria Dock, where the surface is smooth and lower-grip, then transitions outdoors onto asphalt. Elevation changes and shifts between artificial and natural light add further variation across a short, technical lap.
Why Qualifying Carries Extra Weight
Energy consumption at Excel London is relatively low, which Hankook says places added emphasis on qualifying and track position. The short out-lap also compresses the window teams have to bring the tires into their working temperature range before a timed run. Across both races, teams face the task of extracting consistent performance from the iON Race as cars move repeatedly between the circuit’s contrasting surfaces and conditions.
“London brings several challenges together within a very short lap,” said Manfred Sandbichler, Senior Director of Hankook Motorsport. “Drivers move between indoor and outdoor sections, different surfaces, changing light and elevation in quick succession. With the title fight so close, qualifying and track position will matter enormously. The iON Race was developed to perform consistently across these transitions, giving teams a stable platform on which to work throughout the weekend.”
Fan Village Helmet Design Campaign
At its Formula E Fan Village booth, Hankook will show the winning entry from its AI-powered helmet design campaign, “Make it Yours, Make it Race.” Developed with Formula E and DS PENSKE, the fan-created design will be produced as a full-scale racing helmet, with paper helmets carrying the artwork distributed to visitors across the weekend. The booth will also display Hankook’s iON electric-vehicle tire technology and product line.
