Harbinger Unveils 500-Mile Hybrid Truck

Harbinger, a prominent manufacturer of medium-duty electric and hybrid vehicles, has introduced a pioneering plug-in hybrid vehicle tailored for medium-duty fleets. This series hybrid integrates an electric drivetrain with a gas-powered range extender, delivering an estimated range of 500 miles between charges. The announcement marks a significant advancement for fleet operators seeking sustainable yet practical solutions.

Key Highlights

  • Innovative Design: First series hybrid crafted for medium-duty fleets.
  • Extended Range: Achieves up to 500 miles with a gas range extender.
  • Powerful Performance: Delivers 1,140 lb-ft of torque and 440 horsepower.
  • Fast Charging: 800-volt system charges to 80% in one hour.
  • American-Made: Fully designed and assembled in California.
  • Strategic Partnerships: Works with Panasonic and THOR Industries.
  • Customer Assurance: Offers IRA Risk-Free Guarantee for tax benefits.

This hybrid vehicle caters to fleets needing more range than all-electric models provide. “Some fleets can’t rely solely on electric vehicles due to their unique demands,” said John Harris, Harbinger’s Co-founder and CEO. “Our hybrid supports those extended routes while retaining electric drivetrain benefits.”

The vehicle features a 1.4-liter gasoline engine as a range extender, paired with a 140 or 175 kWh battery. Its electric powertrain ensures robust performance with 1,140 lb-ft of torque and 440 horsepower. Harbinger manufactures the chassis in-house in Garden Grove, California, minimizing costs and supply chain risks. Pre-orders are open, with deliveries expected in 2026.

Partnering with Panasonic for battery cells and THOR Industries for RVs, Harbinger enhances its offerings. The IRA Risk-Free Guarantee secures tax incentive benefits for customers. The hybrid will debut at the ACT Expo in Anaheim, April 28–May 1, 2025, alongside test drives of Harbinger’s all-electric model.

This launch positions Harbinger as a leader in sustainable medium-duty transport, blending efficiency with reliability.
