Hofer Powertrain announces the expansion of its eDrive Development Center in Vienna, marking a significant milestone in the company’s commitment to innovation in electric and hybrid powertrain technologies. The event, held on April 24, 2024, brought together customers, partners, and industry experts to discuss the latest advancements and needs of the automotive industry.

The expansion highlights Hofer Powertrain’s dedication to delivering advanced e-mobility solutions. Klaus Wawra, Managing Director of the Vienna office, emphasized the event’s role in showcasing their state-of-the-art eDrive technologies, including Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT) solutions and highly compact Electric Drive Units. These units incorporate the latest Form Litz Winding in stators and cost-efficient 3-Level inverter technologies, exemplifying the company’s capability to produce high-performance, sustainable drive systems.

Visitors explored innovations such as autonomous “people mover” electric drive solutions capable of achieving up to 600,000 km of driving distance, underscoring the reliability and efficiency of Hofer Powertrain’s offerings. The event also featured interactive discussions on the future of mobility, engaging experts from various Hofer Powertrain locations and disciplines.

Wawra highlighted the strategic advantage of the Vienna location, noting that it enables the company to leverage a broad range of development competencies. He stated, “Our presence in Vienna allows us to leverage a broad range of development competencies, making advanced and sustainable drive systems accessible to our clients locally and worldwide.”

The new facility, spanning 451 m² and scalable to 1,400 m², is designed to accommodate up to 40 engineering professionals. It features modern workspaces and excellent transport connections, including direct highway access and a dedicated subway station (UNO-City), ensuring convenient travel for team members and customers. This setup promotes a productive working environment and facilitates efficient knowledge transfer.
