Georgia has officially opened the Hyundai Mobility Training Center, an 89,000-square-foot facility in Bryan County. The center is strategically located adjacent to the Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA). It is designed to train professionals for electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing. The facility will also adapt to train for hybrid vehicle production.
Highlights
- Georgia opens an 89,000-sq-ft training center for Hyundai’s (HMGMA) EV and hybrid manufacturing workforce.
- The facility, operated by Georgia Quick Start, supports the HMGMA project, which aims to create 8,500 jobs by 2031.
- Training utilizes advanced simulation, including a full-length moving production line (IMPACT) and high-voltage battery labs.

A Strategic Asset for State Workforce Development
Governor Brian Kemp emphasized the center’s role in supporting Georgia’s record economic development. It connects residents to skills for the HMGMA project.
Hyundai officials stated the center is key to equipping their “Meta Pros” with skills for next-generation production processes.
The facility is operated by Georgia Quick Start, a program of the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG).
It has a capacity to train 824 individuals simultaneously. This prepares employees for roles at HMGMA and affiliate suppliers.
Advanced Technical Training Infrastructure
The center’s design mirrors the processes trainees will use at the HMGMA metaplant.
Georgia Quick Start collaborated with HMGMA to simulate production processes in a safe, hands-on environment.
Core Training Laboratories
Key training areas include specialized labs for automation, robotics, welding, and painting.
Specific simulation and process-focused zones include:
- STEP Line (Safe Transition for Efficient Production): A digital environment for building coordination and timing skills.
- IMPACT Line (Immersive Manufacturing Process and Conveyor Training): A full-length, moving line simulating 53 assembly activities and quality checks.
- High Voltage Battery and Safety Lab: Hands-on training for EV and hybrid high-voltage systems.
- VR Experience Lab: A simulation environment focused on safety and hazard identification.
- Automation & Mechatronics Lab: Focuses on PLCs, sensors, motion systems, and industrial automation.
Future-Proofing Georgia’s Mobility Sector
The facility’s flexible design allows it to accommodate training for hybrid vehicles, reflecting HMGMA’s recently announced expansion.
This launch is a core component of Georgia’s strategy to lead in the global EV manufacturing sector.
Hyundai leaders noted the center provides confidence in securing trained talent to shape the future of mobility from Southeast Georgia.
