Ignitis ON, a subsidiary of Lithuania’s largest energy company Ignitis Group, has entered a strategic partnership with AMPECO to establish a unified electric vehicle (EV) charging network across the Baltic states of Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. This collaboration aims to provide a seamless and borderless charging experience for EV drivers throughout the region.
Key Highlights
- Unified Charging: EV drivers can now use a single app and payment system across Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia without needing multiple registrations.
- Rapid Customer Migration: Over 30,000 individual customers and 1,000 business clients were successfully moved to AMPECO’s integrated platform within a brief five-month period.
- Enhanced Operational Capabilities: The partnership provides Ignitis ON with powerful data analytics for network optimization and comprehensive remote monitoring and control over its regional infrastructure.
- Market Leadership: Ignitis ON reported delivering twice as much energy through its public EV charging network in 2024 compared to major regional competitors.
- Integrated Energy Ecosystem: The collaboration supports the development of a comprehensive ecosystem that connects the EV charging network with broader energy services and renewable power sources.

The foundation of this initiative is AMPECO’s advanced EV charging platform technology, which enables Ignitis ON to manage operations in distinct markets under a single brand, ensuring a consistent customer experience. “Creating a pan-Baltic charging ecosystem requires technology that can support complex multi-country operations while maintaining a unified customer experience,” said Eimantas Balta, Head of EV Mobility at Ignitis ON. The swift migration of a significant customer base underscores the efficiency of this integrated platform, unifying operations across the three Baltic nations.
AMPECO’s platform provides Ignitis ON with enhanced operational tools, including robust data analytics for network optimization and comprehensive remote monitoring capabilities. Balta explained that the platform’s advanced API capabilities and multi-country functionality allow Ignitis ON the flexibility to build an integrated ecosystem that extends beyond charging to encompass customers’ broader energy needs.

This strategic move also addresses the evolving expectations of energy consumers in the Baltics, who are increasingly seeking connected and sophisticated energy solutions. Vidmantas Dijokas, Head of Commerce at Ignitis ON, noted that many consumers are actively managing their energy by using solar panels and monitoring electricity prices, and they expect seamless integration across services like home heating and EV charging. As a renewables-focused integrated utility, Ignitis Group is well-positioned to deliver this integrated experience.
A crucial element of this partnership is the connection of the EV charging network with Ignitis Group’s renewable energy production, aiming to create a truly sustainable mobility solution. “Electrification of transport is a key component of our green strategy,” stated Dijokas. This focus on a green transportation ecosystem has played a role in Ignitis ON achieving market leadership. Orlin Radev, CEO at AMPECO, added, “Our platform was designed specifically to support visionary companies like Ignitis ON who are building cross-border charging networks”.

Looking ahead, Ignitis ON plans to explore further enhancements, including integration with Nordpool for hourly electricity rates, the implementation of payment terminals with local customization, and the addition of features such as Plug & Charge to simplify the EV charging process further.
