Maximizing Comfort and Convenience
The IONIQ 9’s interior prioritizes comfort and practicality. Its lounge-like atmosphere features calming tones, elliptical design elements, and natural light from a Panoramic Sunroof. Spacious second- and third-row seating ensures all passengers ride in comfort. In select markets, Swiveling Seats in the second row allow passengers to face each other when parked, adding a unique social element. The Universal Island 2.0 console slides for easy access, offering 18.2 liters of storage and a walk-through front row. A heat pump recycles waste heat to keep the cabin warm without taxing the battery, while a pre-conditioning system lets drivers heat the interior remotely. It maintains a steady 22°C with minimal energy use and can achieve over 400 km of range at -7°C (19.4°F), as certified by Korea’s Ministry of Environment. A rear-row HVAC setup operates independently, shutting off when rear seats are empty to save energy.
Performance and Range
Built on the E-GMP platform, the IONIQ 9 maximizes range, space, and safety. Its 110.3 kWh battery powers multiple setups: a 160 kW rear motor (Long-Range RWD), a 70 kW front motor (Long-Range AWD), or dual 160 kW motors (Performance AWD). Acceleration ranges from 5.2 seconds (Performance AWD) to 9.4 seconds (Long-Range RWD) for 0-100 km/h. The Long-Range RWD boasts a WLTP-estimated 620 km range with 194 Wh/km efficiency, aided by a 0.259 Cd drag coefficient and aerodynamic features like optimized wheels and a dual-motion air flap system.

The IONIQ 9 offers a smooth, refined ride with a suspension system tailored for electric SUVs, featuring MacPherson multi-link front and rear setups with self-leveling dampers. Handling is confident, with precise steering and minimal body roll. The Chassis Domain Control Unit enhances dynamics with torque vectoring and stability control, while AI-powered Auto Terrain Mode adapts to various surfaces. Triple door seals, acoustic glass, and Active Noise Control-Road (ANC-R) ensure a quiet cabin, complemented by a premium 14-speaker BOSE stereo. A paddle-shifter regenerative braking system adds driver engagement.
