IONNA Expands EV Charging Network

IONNA, a nationwide electric vehicle (EV) charging network, has announced a significant collaboration with Wawa, a popular convenience store chain. This partnership marks IONNA’s largest single commitment to date and significantly boosts its goal of establishing a robust nationwide charging infrastructure. The new agreement will see the installation of IONNA’s “Rechargeries” at numerous Wawa locations.

Key Highlights

  • IONNA’s new partnership with Wawa has pushed its total contracted charging bays to more than 3,000.
  • The first IONNA Rechargery at a Wawa will open next week in Daytona Beach, Florida.
  • Additional Wawa locations in Bradenton, Pensacola, and Orlando, Florida, are already under construction.
  • This collaboration is a major step towards IONNA’s goal of 30,000 charging bays by 2030.

Expanding Charging Convenience

The collaboration between IONNA and Wawa aims to enhance the EV charging experience by providing drivers with convenient access to amenities. While charging, customers will have full access to Wawa’s well-known offerings, including freshly prepared foods, beverages, and surcharge-free ATMs. The IONNA Rechargeries will feature signature blue and orange 400kW Genuine Charge Dispensers, canopy coverage for protection from the elements, and various car care amenities.

This strategic partnership leverages Wawa’s extensive network of over 1,100 stores across several states, providing IONNA with premier locations for its charging stations. For Wawa, this collaboration expands its existing EV charging services, catering to the growing number of electric vehicle owners.

A Milestone Achievement

The addition of Wawa as a host for its Rechargeries is a significant milestone for IONNA. Seth Cutler, CEO of IONNA, stated, “We couldn’t think of a better way to achieve a key milestone than reaching it with Wawa, a host that allows our drivers to charge with ease and in comfort, knowing they’re being well cared for.” He noted that the upcoming Daytona Beach opening will bring IONNA’s live bay count to 212, with a total of 3,064 bays contracted. This represents over 10% of their 2030 goal, achieved in just over a year of operation.

Rich Makin, Chief Fuel Officer at Wawa, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the benefits for their customers. “As we continue to expand our EV services, we are thrilled to provide our customers with a one-stop for fresh food, beverages and EV charging!”
