JAECOO UK has introduced its new flagship model, the JAECOO 8 SHS-P, a three-row plug-in hybrid SUV available in six- and seven-seat configurations. The model pairs Chery International’s Super Hybrid System with all-wheel drive and starts at £45,500. Deliveries are expected from May 2026.

Powertrain and Efficiency
The JAECOO 8 SHS-P uses Chery International’s Super Hybrid System in its new SHS-P (plug-in) configuration. A 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine works with a 3-speed DHT automatic transmission and AWD to produce 428 PS and 580 Nm of torque.
The combined driving range exceeds 700 miles. Electric-only range reaches up to 83 miles, supporting daily zero-emission commutes. DC fast charging at up to 40 kW enables a 30%–80% charge in roughly 20 minutes. The vehicle also features 6.6 kW vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality.
Two Trim Levels, Two Personalities
The seven-seat JAECOO 8 SHS-P Luxury targets families who need space and flexibility. It includes dual 12.3-inch displays, a Sony 14-speaker sound system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and multiple ISOFIX points.
The six-seat JAECOO 8 SHS-P Executive focuses on premium comfort. It adds Nappa leather, four heated, ventilated, and massaging captain’s chairs with extendable driver’s thigh support, and a zero-gravity front passenger seat. A dedicated “Boss Button” gives the passenger-side occupant control over seat adjustments. Two foldable third-row seats remain available for occasional use.
Interior and Technology
Both trims share a standard equipment list that includes power-adjustable front seats with heating, ventilation, and five massage modes. Headrest speakers provide a private audio zone. Cooled wireless charging pads and wireless smartphone integration come standard.
A panoramic sunroof, hidden door handles, and flowing character lines define the exterior. Interior design centers on dual 12.3-inch screens and a connected cabin layout.
Safety and ADAS
The JAECOO 8 SHS-P carries 10 airbags and up to 19 advanced driver-assistance systems. These include Front Collision Warning, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Keeping Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Detection, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. The body structure uses up to 85% high-strength steel.
Off-Road Capability and Practicality
For the first time on a JAECOO model, lockable differentials work alongside the adaptive all-terrain response system. Continuous damping control (CDC) adaptive suspension is also standard.
Luggage capacity reaches 2,021 litres with rear seats folded. Maximum wading depth is rated at 600 mm. Five exterior colors are available: Amazonite Blue, Basalt Black, Granite White, Iced Slate Grey, and Pearl Silver. Two-tone options are available on the Luxury and standard on the Executive.
Pricing and Warranty
The JAECOO 8 SHS-P Luxury starts at £45,500 OTR. The Executive starts at £47,500 OTR, with paint as the only optional extra. Order books are open now.
All models include a 7-year/100,000-mile warranty and an 8-year/100,000-mile battery warranty.
