The Kia EV2 Long Range now qualifies for the UK Government’s maximum Band 1 £3,750 (about $5,010) Electric Car Grant, cutting the entry-level on-the-road price to £24,245 (about $32,390). Kia UK said the grant applies to EV2 variants equipped with the 61.0 kWh Long Range battery — the ‘Air’, ‘GT-Line’, and ‘GT-Line S’ grades — which deliver up to 275 miles of driving range on a single charge, according to the company. The EV2 is Kia’s second model to reach the maximum grant band, following the EV4’s Band 1 qualification earlier this year.

EV2 ‘First Edition’ Keeps the £1,500 Grant
Alongside the Long Range variants, the EV2 ‘First Edition’ continues to qualify for the Electric Car Grant at the Band 2 level, receiving a £1,500 (about $2,005) reduction in its on-the-road price. The launch-edition grade, which qualified for the grant earlier this year, remains available from £26,995 (about $36,065) with the discount applied.
With every EV2 grade now covered by the government scheme, Kia said its EV2 Reservation Saving retail offer — which had guaranteed an equivalent discount while grant approval was pending — is withdrawn with immediate effect.
Which Kia Models Qualify for the Electric Car Grant?
The EV2, EV3, EV4, and PV5 Passenger are all available with the grant, with selected grades qualifying for either the maximum Band 1 £3,750 or Band 2 £1,500 discount. According to Kia, it is currently one of only seven brands offering fully electric cars with the maximum grant. Each model is available to order at Kia dealerships across the UK, with the PV5 Passenger also sold through PBV Centres.

What the Electric Car Grant Requires
The UK Government’s Electric Car Grant is limited to electric cars meeting strict minimum criteria covering emissions, range, sustainability, and warranty support. The scheme requires manufacturers to hold Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) verification, which sets greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets consistent with limiting global heating and reaching net zero by 2050 at the latest.
According to Kia, the company will have introduced 15 EV models and 10 hybrid models by 2030, with all manufacturing sites powered by 100% renewable energy by 2040. The company is pursuing carbon neutrality across the entire product lifecycle by 2045, including achieving RE100 and conducting Life Cycle Assessments for all vehicle models.
