The Kia EV3 leverages premium technologies found in the EV6 and EV9 models, bringing high efficiency, spacious design, and comfort to the compact SUV segment. Its affordability and adaptability make it suitable as the primary car for a wide range of European customers. Extensive testing across all driving conditions has confirmed its performance and efficiency, both in city environments and on longer journeys. This includes validation of its range and charging capabilities, cementing the EV3’s position as one of the most efficient EVs available.
Marc Hedrich, President & CEO of Kia Europe, commented, “The Kia EV3 is an amazingly versatile vehicle, built and designed to accommodate the diverse needs and distinctive lifestyles of customers across Europe.” He also highlighted how it integrates seamlessly with a broader ecosystem, including features like in-car payments, over-the-air updates, bi-directional charging, and more.
Designed on Kia’s dedicated EV architecture, the E-GMP platform, the EV3 aims to make electric vehicles more accessible while enhancing the driving experience. Kia has ambitious plans for its electric lineup, targeting 11 electric models on the market by 2026 and expanding to 15 by 2027, aiming for a fully electric product line in Europe by 2035.
Advanced Features and Charging Technology
The EV3 offers a segment-leading range of up to 479 miles when used primarily in city driving conditions, thanks to technologies like i-Pedal and a Regenerative Braking System. The drag coefficient is just 0.263, helped by aerodynamic features such as active air flaps and a boat-tail shape, significantly reducing power consumption.
Charging the EV3 is seamless with 400V fast charging technology, allowing the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in around 30 minutes. Up to 125 miles of range can be added in just 15 minutes, with support from the Kia Charge network, offering access to over 800,000 charging points across 28 European countries.
Convenience and Connectivity
Inside, the EV3 has a spacious, ‘living room’ feel, enhanced by its triple-screen panoramic dashboard and thin HVAC system, offering more foot space. Kia’s new In-Car Payment feature, starting with Parkopedia, allows drivers to conveniently pay for parking through the vehicle’s infotainment system.
The EV3 also supports over-the-air updates, video streaming, and offers features on demand through the Kia Connect Store. It will be the first model to feature Kia’s AI Assistant with ChatGPT, offering an intelligent and interactive driving experience.
Sustainable and Responsible Mobility
The Kia EV3 integrates sustainable materials throughout its design. The optional trunk liner made from recycled ocean plastic is part of Kia’s collaboration with The Ocean Cleanup, aimed at removing plastics from the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. In addition, the EV3 uses bioplastics, recycled PET fabrics, and BTX-free paint as part of Kia’s broader sustainability goals to have 20% of its vehicle plastics from recycled sources by 2030.
The EV3 is now available in Europe, with plans for an all-wheel drive (AWD) version in the future, expanding beyond the current two-wheel drive (2WD) models. Kia continues to set benchmarks in the electric vehicle industry, blending performance, sustainability, and innovative technology to redefine the compact SUV segment.
