IRVINE, Calif. – The 2022 Kia EV6 has been named “Best of the Year” in the 41st annual MotorWeek Drivers’ Choice Awards. In addition to this prestigious accolade, the EV6 was also awarded “Best EV” alongside three other top electric vehicles.
Steven Center, COO and EVP of Kia America, expressed his delight at the recognition the EV6 has received. “We are honored to receive these awards from MotorWeek,” he said. “The EV6 represents an important step toward Kia’s transformative ‘Plan S’ global electrification strategy, and its future-forward design, dedicated EV platform, and performance continue to impress.”

To determine the winners, the MotorWeek team evaluates almost 150 vehicles, taking into consideration factors such as price, practicality, performance, and fuel efficiency. They then choose the best models in a range of lifestyle categories, from family sedans to luxury cars, large utilities, and pickups. Finally, an overall “Best of the Year” is selected.
Host and Creator of MotorWeek, John Davis, praised the Kia EV6 for its standout design, performance, and handling. “The Kia EV6 is simply an outstanding, breakthrough vehicle design,” he said. “Design details like its 5-door coupe-like profile, flush door handles, and unique LED lighting make it a styling leader, while being built on a dedicated EV platform means an airy interior with exceptional room front and rear.”
After its debut in 2022, more than 20,000 EV6 models were sold across the U.S. in its first year. Reflecting the brand’s commitment to electrification, January 2023 sales of Kia’s electrified models increased by 128% compared to January 2022.
The 2023 Drivers’ Choice Award winners are featured on MotorWeek.org and will be showcased in a special episode of the show (#4223) airing on public television stations from February 11th. The episode can also be viewed on the series’ cable partner, the MAVTV Motorsports Network, from February 26th.
