In a notable achievement, the 2024 Kia EV9 has been declared the winner in the SUV category of the prestigious 2024 Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year (WWCOTY) awards. This accolade positions the EV9 as a significant contender for the WWCOTY’s Top Award, with the final verdict to be unveiled on International Women’s Day, March 8, 2024.
The announcement, made from Irvine, California, underscores the EV9’s commendable performance in a category known for its competitive landscape. Steven Center, COO & EVP at Kia America, expressed his pride in the vehicle’s success, highlighting the electric SUV’s victory as a testament to Kia’s commitment to innovation and excellence.
The EV9 garnered praise for its spacious interior, capable of comfortably seating up to seven passengers, and its cutting-edge technological features. The jury was particularly impressed by the vehicle’s innovative design, bidirectional charging capability, and the efficiency of its ultra-fast 800-volt charging system. According to Marta García, Executive President of WWCOTY, the EV9’s competitive pricing further solidified its position as a leader in its class.
The Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year awards, established in 2009 and judged by an all-female panel of 75 journalists from 52 countries, assesses contenders based on criteria such as safety, quality, value, design, performance, and environmental impact. This rigorous evaluation process ensures that the awards reflect the priorities and considerations of consumers worldwide.
