Kitu Systems, a prominent provider of clean energy solutions, and EV charger manufacturer FractalEV have announced the successful integration of Kitu’s Expedition CMS (Charge Management System) with FractalEV’s hardware. This collaboration, confirmed through extensive joint testing, establishes a fully interoperable, end-to-end management solution for electric vehicle (EV) charging, built on industry standards to support intelligent and flexible operations.

Key Highlights

  • The integration confirms that FractalEV’s chargers are fully interoperable with Kitu’s charge management system, creating a unified software and hardware solution.
  • The combined offering provides a complete, all-in-one charge management platform for charge point operators, fleet managers, and utilities.
  • Built on industry standards like OCPP, IEEE 2030.5, and ISO 15118, the system supports advanced functionalities such as demand response, dynamic pricing, and vehicle-grid integration.
  • The companies are already deploying the integrated smart charging infrastructure in a commercial project in the San Diego area.

A Unified Solution for EV Charging

The successful integration provides a streamlined experience for both site owners and EV drivers through user-friendly web and mobile applications. The rigorous testing process validated critical capabilities essential for scaling charging networks, including secure onboarding, remote configuration, telemetry reporting, charging session management, and over-the-air (OTA) updates. This ensures that operators can deploy and manage FractalEV’s L2 chargers and advanced backend software with confidence, strengthening the connection from the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) to the end customer.

Advanced, Future-Ready Platform

Kitu Systems’ Expedition CMS is uniquely designed to handle complex energy scenarios. By combining Kitu’s flexible software with FractalEV’s reliable hardware, the partnership delivers a complete and robust solution. “By combining Expedition’s software flexibility with FractalEV’s reliable hardware, we’re empowering operators and end users with a complete solution,” stated Tom Barbour, Kitu’s Chief Commercial Officer. “This integrated offering will enable charge point operators to get their sites live and running without delay.”

Real-World Deployment and Expansion

This partnership is already demonstrating its value in a real-world setting. Kitu Systems and FractalEV are actively deploying their integrated infrastructure for a commercial client in San Diego, showcasing a shared commitment to advancing clean transportation. This project serves as a blueprint for future endeavors as the collaboration expands. According to Micah Gold-Utting, Head of Sales and Partnerships at FractalEV, the partnership delivers a “true enterprise offering that is ready to meet the needs of operators across a wide range of use cases.” With additional opportunities already under discussion, the two companies are positioned to enter new markets within the evolving EV ecosystem.
