Longbow Debuts Featherweight Electric Speedster at CES 2026

Longbow creates the Featherweight Electric Vehicle category with its 1,973-lb Speedster. Debuting at CES 2026, the British EV targets US enthusiasts with lightweight engineering and driver-focused performance.

British manufacturer Longbow will unveil its first vehicle, the Speedster, at CES Las Vegas on January 6, 2026. This marks the brand’s international debut. This all-electric sports car weighs just 1,973 lbs. It establishes a new “Featherweight Electric Vehicle” (FEV) category focused on driver engagement and lightweight engineering. Deliveries for the limited-edition model are scheduled to begin later in 2026.

Redefining Electric Agility

Longbow aims to shift the EV paradigm by moving away from heavy battery packs. They are embracing a philosophy of “The Speed of Lightness”. The Speedster utilizes a clean-sheet design and lightweight construction. This is to deliver a raw driving experience reminiscent of British icons like the Lotus Elise. This approach decisively establishes the Featherweight Electric Vehicle (FEV) category. It prioritizes agility and accessible performance over raw straight-line speed.

Designed and hand-built in the UK, the vehicle embodies a “duality” in its aesthetic. The front silhouette reflects the nostalgia of classic sports cars. Meanwhile, the rear signals the modern EV platform underpinning the brand’s first two models.

US Market Strategy

The brand has already secured significant pre-orders from North America. This highlights a specific unmet demand for lightweight electric driver’s cars in the region. Co-Founder Daniel Davey notes that American enthusiasts share a passion for unfiltered driving experiences. He cites the legacy of the AC Ace and the original Tesla Roadster.

Mark Tapscott, Co-Founder & Co-CEO, emphasizes that US buyers are seeking “joyful” driving experiences. This preference is rather than just chasing performance numbers. Following the CES reveal, the Speedster will embark on a US tour. This is to engage directly with reservation holders and Guild members.

Pricing and Production

The open-top Speedster starts at £84,995 (including VAT). Longbow also plans to release a closed-top Roadster, which will start from £64,995.

Both models leverage the collective experience of a leadership team with backgrounds at major automotive heavyweights. These include Aston Martin and Tesla. Reservations are currently open, with production and deliveries remaining on track for 2026.
