Lucid Gravity Gets Trimble Lane-Level Positioning Technology

Lucid Gravity becomes the first EV with Trimble's centimeter-level positioning technology, using sensor fusion to maintain accuracy in tunnels, garages, and urban canyons where GPS fails.

Lucid Gravity becomes the first electric vehicle to integrate Trimble’s sensor fusion positioning engine, delivering centimeter-level accuracy in challenging GPS environments including tunnels, parking garages, and dense urban centers.

The system combines Trimble RTX and ProPoint Go technology, fusing satellite data with 6-axis inertial sensors. While standard automotive navigation operates with meter-level margins of error, this integration narrows positioning accuracy to centimeters.

Highlights

  • First EV integration: Lucid Gravity is the first electric vehicle to feature Trimble’s resilient positioning engine as standard equipment
  • Centimeter-level accuracy: System reduces positioning error from meters to centimeters, enabling precise lane identification
  • Sensor fusion approach: Technology combines satellite data with 6-axis inertial sensors for continuous positioning
  • Retrofit capability: Existing Lucid Gravity vehicles will receive the technology via over-the-air software update

Technical Applications

The Trimble positioning system supports five functional areas within the Lucid Gravity:

  • Navigation continuity: Serves as primary source for location, velocity, and heading data, eliminating signal acquisition delays in urban environments
  • Driver assistance: Provides high-accuracy geolocation to the Hands-Free Driving Assist (HFDA) system for precise highway positioning
  • Range estimation: Delivers precise altitude data for terrain-based battery consumption calculations
  • Infotainment integration: Enables lane-level data for mobile apps and dashboard applications
  • Fleet tracking: Supports high-fidelity vehicle monitoring for commercial fleet operators

Availability

The Trimble positioning solution will be standard on new Lucid Gravity vehicles beginning late January 2026. Current Lucid Gravity owners will receive the capability through an OTA software update.
