Lucid Pushes Software Update to Fix Adaptive Cruise Issue

Lucid USA, Inc. announces a recall for specific 2022-2024 Lucid Air vehicles due to a potential software glitch that could lead to a sudden loss of drive power, significantly increasing the risk of a crash. This recall, identified under NHTSA Campaign Number 24V076000, affects approximately 189 units.

The issue stems from software release versions 2.1.2 to 2.1.26, where the adaptive cruise control’s faulty software may trigger a drive power loss. Lucid has proactively addressed this concern by releasing an over-the-air (OTA) software update in October 2023, free of charge, to remedy the problem.

For vehicle owners, Lucid plans to send out notification letters by March 8, 2024. Those in need of further assistance or information can reach out to Lucid customer service at 1-888-995-8243, referencing recall number SR-24-02-0. Additionally, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) offers resources through its Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or online at www.nhtsa.gov.

The recall report details that all Lucid Air vehicles operating on software versions prior to the Remedy Version, specifically versions 2.1.2 through 2.1.26, are at risk. A customer’s encounter with the fault in December 2023 prompted a thorough investigation, confirming the need for this recall to ensure the safety of all affected vehicles.

Lucid’s commitment to safety and customer satisfaction is evident through its swift action to rectify the issue at no cost to vehicle owners, including reimbursement for any costs incurred before the official notification if the software update was performed to address this specific defect.

Vehicles manufactured between November 10, 2021, and December 5, 2023, are included in this recall. Lucid has ensured that, as of October 8, 2023, all new vehicles leaving the factory have been updated to software version 2.1.30 or later, thus eliminating the identified risk for future owners.
