Mazda Unveils the All-New CX-90 with Three Electrified Powertrains and Advanced Safety Features

IRVINE, Calif. – Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) has revealed pricing and packages for its highly anticipated first-ever Mazda CX-90. This all-new flagship vehicle boasts a stylish design, luxurious interior and performance-oriented electrified powertrains.

The three-row crossover SUV will be available in three new powertrain options: CX-90 3.3 Turbo S, CX-90 PHEV, and CX-90 3.3 Turbo. There will be 11 packages to choose from, catering to a wide range of customer needs.

The CX-90 3.3 Turbo S will feature the e-Skyactiv G 3.3L Inline 6 Turbo engine, which is Mazda’s most powerful gasoline engine to date. It produces 340 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque when using premium fuel, and has an EPA estimated fuel economy of 23 mpg city, 28 mpg highway and 25 mpg combined.

The CX-90 PHEV is equipped with the e-Skyactiv PHEV powertrain, which consists of an electric motor and a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine. The powertrain provides 323 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque when using premium fuel, and is designed to operate purely on the electric motor in different driving scenarios. The 17.8 kWh high-capacity battery provides the necessary support for longer drives or when maximum acceleration is required. The EPA estimated range and fuel economy figures will be announced closer to the vehicle’s on-sale date.

The CX-90 3.3 Turbo is equipped with the standard e-Skyactiv G 3.3L Turbo engine, producing 280 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque with regular fuel. The engine has an EPA estimated fuel economy of 24 mpg city, 28 mpg highway and 25 mpg combined. Both inline six engines are equipped with the 48-volt mild-hybrid system M-Hybrid Boost, which provides efficiency without sacrificing performance.

All three powertrain options are paired with Mazda’s new eight-speed automatic transmission, which was specifically designed for the electrified longitudinal powertrains and large platform. The electric motor is placed between the engine and transmission, providing smooth acceleration and allowing the vehicle to be powered by the motor at low speeds.

All CX-90 models are equipped with standard features that provide Mazda’s signature driving dynamics and confidence, such as Mazda Intelligent Drive Select (Mi-Drive) with Sport and Off-Road modes, Kinematic Posture Control, i-Activ all-wheel drive (AWD) technology and more. Safety is a top priority for the CX-90, with standard i-Activsense2 safety features, including Smart City Brake Support, Blind Spot Monitoring, Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop & Go, and more. The CX-90 also includes a rear seat alert feature to help prevent accidental objects or occupants from being left in the rear seats.

The standard CX-90 3.3 Turbo is available in five packages, with the CX-90 3.3 Turbo Select package offering black leatherette seats, a 10.25-inch full-color center display, Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ integration, and more. The CX-90 3.3 Turbo Preferred package, available in a seven-passenger seating option, includes additional features such as a power moonroof, Bose® 12-Speaker Premium Audio System, and a 360-degree View Monitor.
