McMurtry Begins Spéirling PURE Production at New Factory

McMurtry Automotive opens a new factory for Spéirling PURE production and launches McMurtry Technology to commercialize its electric fan car innovations for other manufacturers.

McMurtry Automotive is entering a new phase as it marks its tenth anniversary. The UK-based electric hypercar maker has opened a new production facility and will begin delivering its Spéirling PURE electric fan car to customers in summer 2026. The company also launched a separate technology division to commercialize its engineering innovations.

Highlights

  • McMurtry opened a 2,700-square-meter production facility in Wotton-under-Edge, England, to support Spéirling PURE manufacturing and future model expansion.
  • The Spéirling PURE is priced at £995,000 plus taxes, shipping, and options, with first customer deliveries expected in summer 2026.
  • A new division, McMurtry Technology, will commercialize intellectual property developed through the Spéirling program across five specializations.
  • The company has generated more than 22 patents and accumulated over 5,000 km of prototype testing ahead of production.

New Production Facility Supports Scale-Up

McMurtry invested in a dedicated 2,700-square-meter facility in Wotton-under-Edge, England. The site supplements the company’s existing headquarters. Together, the two locations provide the capacity needed for Spéirling PURE production. The expansion also positions McMurtry to grow its model range in the years ahead.

Prototypes have already logged more than 5,000 km of test mileage. The Spéirling holds outright records at both the Goodwood Festival of Speed Hill Climb and the Top Gear Test Track.

McMurtry Technology Targets OEM Clients

The company established McMurtry Technology as a standalone division. It will be based at the original Swinhay House estate, which is also being expanded. The division’s purpose is to package and sell the engineering expertise developed during the Spéirling program to other manufacturers.

McMurtry Technology will operate across five areas of specialization:

  • Downforce on Demand™
  • Performance Battery Technology
  • Electric Powertrains
  • Vehicle Lightweighting
  • Vehicle Software

The division already serves multiple high-profile clients. McMurtry reports that it is generating seven-figure revenues from its technology services.

Spéirling PURE: Electric Fan Car Performance

The Spéirling PURE is an electric single-seater fan car. It produces 2,000 kg of downforce from a standstill, enabling 3G cornering forces. The design makes high-performance driving accessible beyond professional racers.

The car was conceived by the late Sir David McMurtry, founder of McMurtry Automotive and engineering pioneer. His sons, Richard and Ben McMurtry, serve as joint owners and board members. Both were day-zero investors in the company.

Leadership Transition Continues Founder’s Vision

Richard McMurtry confirmed that the company’s direction remains rooted in its founder’s approach. The focus stays on engineering creativity and working outside conventional industry methods.

Thomas Yates, managing director and co-founder, noted that McMurtry is building a new category of electric track vehicles. The company was founded in 2016 and has developed its technology, team, and facilities from the ground up.

Customer deliveries will begin worldwide in 2026. Testing continues on circuits globally.
