Mercedes-Benz has introduced the first all-electric C-Class, a ground-up redesign of its best-selling mid-size saloon built on a dedicated EV architecture. The launch model, the C 400 4MATIC electric, pairs an 800-volt system with a 94 kWh battery to deliver up to 762 km (about 474 miles) of WLTP range and 325 km (about 202 miles) of recharged range in 10 minutes. The automaker positions the model as a direct redefinition of the electric mid-size segment.
Highlights
- C 400 4MATIC electric produces 360 kW and accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 4.0 seconds
- WLTP range up to 762 km; 800-volt DC fast charging peaks at 330 kW
- 94 kWh usable battery capacity with bidirectional charging capability
- Standard fourth-generation MBUX with ChatGPT-4o, Microsoft Bing, and Google Gemini integration

Platform and Powertrain
The electric C-Class launches with the C 400 4MATIC as the flagship variant. The dual-motor all-wheel-drive configuration pairs a permanently excited synchronous motor (PSM) on the rear axle with a second PSM on the front axle that operates as a boost drive. A disconnect unit decouples the front motor under low-load conditions, which Mercedes-Benz says reduces front-axle losses by up to 90 percent and extends range.
The rear-axle motor uses an innovative two-speed transmission. First gear carries an 11:1 ratio for urban acceleration and towing, while second gear drops to 5:1 for highway efficiency. Shift points adjust dynamically based on driving situation, battery state, and the selected DYNAMIC SELECT program.
Mercedes-Benz reports battery-to-wheel efficiency of 93 percent over long distances and a drag coefficient starting at 0.22. Combined WLTP energy consumption for the C 400 4MATIC is listed at 18.5–14.1 kWh/100 km with zero tailpipe CO₂ emissions. Additional rear-wheel and all-wheel-drive variants are scheduled to follow in 2027, including a rear-wheel-drive model that Mercedes-Benz says is expected to deliver roughly 800 km of WLTP range.
Charging, Recuperation, and Bidirectional Capability
The 94 kWh battery supports DC fast charging up to 330 kW at 800-volt stations, with an optional DC converter enabling compatibility with 400-volt infrastructure. The saloon also supports bidirectional charging, subject to market-specific regulatory conditions. A new one-box braking system manages up to 300 kW of recuperation and can operate during ABS events or on low-traction surfaces. The system is engineered to enable one-pedal driving down to a full stop, with adjustable regen levels via steering-wheel paddles.

Chassis and Comfort
An optional Agility and Comfort package adds AIRMATIC air suspension with predictive damping and 4.5-degree rear-axle steering. The steering system trims the turning circle by 90 cm to 11.2 meters. AIRMATIC uses Car-to-X data and Google Maps inputs to adjust damping and ride height, including pre-adjusting before speed bumps. Mercedes-Benz states the package is intended to deliver S-Class-level long-distance comfort while raising dynamic capability in Sport mode.
The wheelbase measures 2,962 mm, 97 mm longer than the outgoing combustion C-Class. Boot capacity is 470 liters with an additional 101-liter frunk. Braked towing capacity is rated at 1.8 tonnes.
Digital Architecture
The electric C-Class runs on MB.OS with an optional 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen — the largest display fitted to a C-Class. The fourth-generation MBUX infotainment system integrates generative AI from ChatGPT-4o, Microsoft Bing, and Google Gemini, using a multi-agent approach that Mercedes-Benz says selects models based on task. Navigation with Electric Intelligence is built on Google Maps and integrates Google Cloud’s Automotive AI Agent for conversational services. The system manages charging stops, preconditions the battery for fast charging, and adapts energy forecasts to traffic, terrain, and wind conditions. Over-the-air updates cover the full vehicle software stack.
MB.DRIVE ASSIST PRO, an optional point-to-point driving assistance system, will launch first in the United States, where regulatory conditions permit. Mercedes-Benz has not disclosed timing for additional markets.

Interior and Materials
Mercedes-Benz describes the interior as the second vegan-certified cabin in its portfolio after the electric GLC, with all soft-touch materials certified by The Vegan Society. The SKY CONTROL panoramic roof offers nine independently switchable glass segments and 162 illuminated stars tied to the selected ambient lighting color. A new multi-source heat pump draws from motor waste heat, battery waste heat, and ambient air — Mercedes-Benz says the system requires roughly one-third of the electrical energy of a comparable auxiliary heater.
Availability
Mercedes-Benz has not yet released U.S. pricing. UK-specific pricing and specifications will be communicated separately. The press release references a market launch for MB.DRIVE ASSIST PRO in the U.S. but does not provide a calendar date for broader availability.
