Mercedes-Benz Unveils MB.CHARGE Public Service

Mercedes-Benz is rolling out MB.CHARGE Public, an advanced digital charging ecosystem, to simplify public charging for its electric vehicle owners. Launching mid-March 2025, it replaces the older Mercedes me Charge service, transitioning existing contracts automatically without altering tariffs. The service supports all Mercedes-Benz electric cars, vans, and plug-in hybrids, ensuring broad compatibility. Current RFID cards remain valid, easing the switch for users.

The system shines with its integrated reservation function, a first among automakers, allowing drivers to book spots at Mercedes-Benz charging parks via the vehicle’s navigation system. This feature, initially available in Germany and the US, auto-reserves a spot 15 minutes before arrival when using Navigation with Electric Intelligence. It cuts wait times and guarantees a spot, enhancing convenience.

MB.CHARGE Public connects users to one of the world’s largest networks, boasting over 2.3 million charging points. The MBUX system displays real-time availability and plans optimal routes, factoring in charging stops. Authentication is a breeze—via MBUX, the app, RFID cards, or Plug & Charge at supported stations. Pricing stays transparent, with costs shown upfront and billed automatically.

For fleet and business clients, MB.CHARGE Public rolls out in April 2025 with a Charging Fleet Portal. This tool lets managers oversee contracts, cards, and billing, while drivers enjoy standard features. It launches in Germany, France, the UK, the US, and Canada, with more markets planned.

Our goal is to provide an exceptional charging experience,” says Franz Reiner, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Mobility AG. “By covering all customer touchpoints during charging with our electric vehicles, the integrated charging service, and our own Mercedes-Benz Charging Network, we create a fully connected charging experience with exclusive benefits.”

The service also prioritizes sustainability. In Europe, the US, and Canada, Mercedes-Benz offsets charging with renewable energy when green power isn’t directly available. With fixed AC/DC pricing options and smart navigation, MB.CHARGE Public sets a new standard for convenient, connected electromobility.
