Miami E-Prix: Formula E's New Challenge

Formula E first raced in Miami in 2014 and 2015 on a street circuit near Biscayne Bay, featuring drivers like Sebastien Buemi and Lucas di Grassi, who remain on today’s grid. Now, the series brings its high-octane action to the Homestead-Miami Speedway, a venue untested by Formula E until this event. Known for its vibrant Art Deco-inspired design, the track blends oval and infield sections, offering a dynamic challenge with multiple overtaking zones, including an ATTACK MODE activation point at Turn 4.

This marks the 17th Formula E race in the U.S., trailing only Germany in total events hosted. Past American stops include Portland and New York City, but Miami’s return adds a fresh chapter. For U.S.-based teams Andretti, DS PENSKE, and CUPRA KIRO, this home race brings added pressure and opportunity to impress local supporters.

In the Drivers’ Championship, Oliver Rowland holds a strong lead with 68 points, bolstered by wins in Mexico City and Jeddah. Meanwhile, Taylor Barnard, a 20-year-old rookie, has stunned the field with three podiums and a pole, sitting just 17 points behind Rowland. Reigning champions Jaguar TCS Racing and driver Pascal Wehrlein, however, have faltered early in Season 11, with inconsistent results dimming their title defenses.

The GEN3 Evo car, a marvel of electric engineering, accelerates to 60mph in 1.82 seconds—30% faster than a current F1 car—enhancing race strategy with all-wheel drive during key moments. Fans can catch the Miami E-Prix live on April 12, 2025. For schedules and streaming options, visit the Formula E website. Current standings are available on the Formula E standings page.
