Porsche Taycan Turbo GT With Manthey Kit Sets 6:55.553 Nordschleife Record

A Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach Package and the new optional Manthey Kit lapped the Nürburgring-Nordschleife in 6:55.553, setting an Electric Executive Cars record certified by a notary.

The Porsche Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach Package and the new optional Manthey Kit lapped the Nürburgring-Nordschleife in 6:55.553 minutes, resetting the Electric Executive Cars category record on the 12.94-mile circuit. Porsche development driver Lars Kern set the time, beating the previous luxury electric vehicle record by more than nine seconds and his own October 2023 standard Taycan Turbo GT benchmark by 12 seconds. A notary on site certified the lap. The track-focused Manthey Kit — the first such kit Porsche has offered for an electric model — adds aerodynamic, chassis, wheel, and powertrain modifications to the Weissach-equipped Taycan.

Highlights

  • Lap time of 6:55.553 minutes around the 20.832 km Nordschleife, certified by a notary
  • Standard system output rises 20 kW (26 hp) to 600 kW (804 hp); Attack Mode 10-second output increases from 700 kW (938 hp) to 730 kW (978 hp)
  • Total downforce at 124 mph climbs from 209 to 683 lbs; top-speed downforce reaches roughly 1,631 lbs at the new 192 mph top speed
  • First Manthey Kit developed for an electric Porsche, available factory-direct

Track-focused upgrade jointly developed by Porsche and Manthey

The Manthey Kit was developed at the Porsche Development Center in Weissach with Manthey engineers in Meuspath. It pairs lightweight wheels with Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS track tires and re-tuned driving dynamics systems, alongside aerodynamic and powertrain changes designed for circuit use.

Kevin Giek, head of the Taycan model line, said: “With the new Manthey kit, we also offer a unique upgrade for the Taycan Turbo GT. The small, agile project team from Manthey and Porsche succeeded in transferring the Manthey DNA into a kit for electric vehicles. This approach ultimately culminated in an impressive new Nordschleife record.”

Aerodynamics tripled and adjustable

Downforce more than triples versus the standard car, according to Porsche. At 124 mph total downforce rises from 209 to 683 lbs, and at the new 192 mph top speed — up from 189 mph — the car generates roughly 1,631 lbs of total downforce.

Key components include a new rear wing with enlarged end plates, an optimized front diffuser, a high-performance rear diffuser with extended fins, and enlarged underbody air deflectors. Carbon aerodiscs improve rear-wheel aerodynamic efficiency. Drivers can adjust the rear wing and front diffuser to match track conditions. Exposed carbon fiber wheel-arch vents, extensions, side skirts, the rear wing, and a one-piece front lip on suspended carbon struts complete the visual package.

First Manthey powertrain modifications for an EV

The kit marks the first time a Manthey package has altered Porsche electric powertrain hardware. Optimizations to the high-voltage battery, control unit, and pulse inverters raise maximum discharge current from 1,100 to 1,300 amps. Standard system output increases from 580 kW (777 hp) to 600 kW (804 hp), and maximum Launch Control torque rises 22 ft-lbs to 936 ft-lbs. With Attack Mode active, an additional 130 kW (174 hp) boost is available for short bursts, lifting 10-second output from 700 kW (938 hp) to 730 kW (978 hp). Launch Control system output is unchanged at 760 kW (1,019 hp).

Context: Porsche’s Nordschleife progression

The new 6:55.553 lap continues a steady pace of Taycan Nordschleife improvements over four years. Porsche development driver Lars Kern set 7:33 in a Taycan Turbo S in 2022, then 7:07.55 in a pre-production Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach Package in early 2024. The Manthey Kit lap trims another 12.0 seconds from that 2024 benchmark — a roughly 2.8% gain in a single optional package. For broader electric performance context, BYD’s YANGWANG U9 Xtreme posted 6:59.157 on the Nordschleife in August 2025, though it competes in the Electric Super Sports Cars category rather than Electric Executive Cars.

Kern attributed the gain to “significantly improved aerodynamics, further improved tires in terms of performance, and higher available overboost power,” noting that he gained 8.7 mph through the Lauda-Lefthander section before Bergwerk compared with the 2023 lap.

Christian Müller, Technical Project Manager for Taycan special vehicles at Porsche, said: “Our goal was to further enhance the already exceptional performance of the Taycan Turbo GT, specifically for use on the racetrack. Together with the experts from Manthey, we have comprehensively tuned the aerodynamics and chassis, as well as the wheel/tire combination, for maximum circuit performance. We are breaking new ground in three ways with this Manthey Kit: It is the first kit of its kind for an electric Porsche; the most comprehensive update to date – including modifications to the drive system – and for the first time, it is also available directly from the factory.”

Pricing and availability

Porsche said pricing and availability details will follow at a later date. Performance figures cited above are manufacturer claims and have not been independently verified; range and category-comparison metrics reflect Porsche’s “Electric Executive Cars” classification at the Nürburgring.
