Mullen Automotive Secures 1,000-Vehicle Order for Electric Truck from Randy Marion Automotive Group

What’s Happening:

Mullen Automotive, Inc., a burgeoning player in the electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing space, has revealed a significant development. The company has received an order for 1,000 units of its Mullen THREE, a Class 3 low cab forward (LCF) electric truck. The Randy Marion Automotive Group (RMA) is behind this substantial purchase, which is estimated to be worth $63 million. Deliveries are slated to begin in August 2023, marking a milestone in the agreement between Randy Marion Isuzu, LLC (part of the RMA Group), and Mullen Automotive.

Why It Matters:

This order underscores the growing interest and confidence in Mullen’s commercial EV offerings. The Mullen THREE is a highly efficient LCF EV truck, equipped with features designed for optimal urban navigation. With a tight turning diameter of 38 feet and superior visibility, it offers excellent maneuverability on narrow city streets. Furthermore, its versatile chassis supports easy upfitting with bodies up to 14 feet long and over 5,800 pounds of payload. The LCF chassis design also enables a greater cargo volume within a given overall length.

Key Points:

Brad Sigmon, Fleet GM and vice president of RMA Fleet Operations, acknowledged the increasing interest in Mullen’s commercial EVs, specifically the Class 3 cab chassis. Meanwhile, David Michery, CEO and chairman of Mullen Automotive, lauded RMA for its trailblazing role in commercial EV dealerships in the U.S., expressing pride in collaborating with them to deliver Mullen’s commercial EVs to customers.

The Mullen commercial EV lineup is diverse, featuring Class 1 cargo vans, Class 3 cab chassis offerings, and Bollinger Motors Class 4-6 chassis products. All vehicles are to be manufactured at the Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering Center (AMEC), located just outside Tunica, Mississippi.

Bottom Line:

The sizable order from RMA validates Mullen Automotive’s strategic direction in the EV market and underscores the escalating demand for commercial EVs. This significant milestone could potentially usher in a new era of growth for Mullen, positioning it as a credible competitor in the commercial EV sector. The company’s innovative, efficient, and versatile offerings are evidently resonating with industry leaders like RMA, setting the stage for Mullen’s future successes in this rapidly evolving market.
