Glasgow-based electric 4X4 manufacturer Munro EV has secured £2 million in fresh funding to accelerate the production of its M-Series vehicles. The investment, led by existing supporter Elbow Beach and other parties, is aimed at meeting surging demand from critical industries seeking to decarbonize their operations.
Key Highlights
- Munro EV secured £2 million in new funding from investor Elbow Beach and other partners.
- The investment will scale production of the all-electric M-Series 4X4, which is designed for mining, defense, and construction sectors.
- Existing preliminary customer orders for 246 vehicles are valued at over £17 million.
- The expansion is expected to create up to 300 new manufacturing jobs in Scotland.

Addressing Industrial Decarbonization
Global industries, particularly sectors like mining, are under increasing pressure to reduce their carbon footprint. While passenger vehicle electrification has advanced, commercial all-terrain vehicles have remained heavily dependent on diesel. Munro’s M-Series offers a solution to this underserved market by providing rugged performance with zero operational emissions.
The vehicles are built for demanding environments, featuring a 1,000kg payload capacity and a real-world range of over 170 miles per charge. These capabilities make them ideal for the intensive operational needs of military applications, mining sites, and construction projects.
Scaling Production to Meet Demand
The new £2 million investment will enable Munro to significantly scale its Glasgow production facility. This expansion will service current customer orders and support the company’s goal of reaching an annual production capacity of up to 5,000 vehicles within the next six years. Initial M-Series deliveries have already been made to clients including Gleneagles Hotel and Denbighshire Council.
JP, co-founder and CEO of Elbow Beach, stated that Munro is a standout example of Scottish advanced manufacturing. He noted that the company’s focused approach delivers a capital-light solution that accelerates decarbonization while providing commercial benefits.

According to Russel Peterson, Co-founder and CEO of Munro EV, the investment validates the critical need for zero-emission solutions in heavy industry. He explained that companies in mining, defense, and construction are actively seeking alternatives to diesel to meet sustainability targets and reduce operational costs. Peterson added that the M-Series delivers a unique combination of capability, durability, and sustainability. He highlighted its potential to meet the requirements of the UK Ministry of Defence’s Land Mobility Strategy as a replacement for its Land Rover and Pinzgauer fleets.
Strategic Deployment of New Funding
The investment will be deployed across several key areas:
- Expanding production line capacity at the Glasgow facility.
- Recruiting additional assembly and engineering staff.
- Developing industry-specific vehicle configurations.
- Growing the sales and service network across target sectors.
A Focus on Critical Industries
Munro’s strategic focus on the mining, defense, and construction sectors reflects the unique demands of these industries, where vehicles must operate reliably and safely in challenging conditions. The M-Series has undergone extensive testing in demanding off-road environments to demonstrate the durability required for mission-critical applications. The vehicle is offered in Utility, Truck, and Chassis variants and is engineered for simple maintenance and a superior total cost of ownership.
