The new Superb iV, a significant improvement over its predecessor, was designed to integrate a larger battery pack and optimized power electronics from the outset. Despite the increased battery size, the model retains the spaciousness and practicality expected from Škoda’s flagship estate. Available only as an estate, it features a 510-liter boot with the rear seats in position, expandable to 1,770 liters with the seats folded, and offers best-in-class rear legroom.
Škoda iV Plug-in Drivetrain
The drivetrain combines a 1.5 TSI four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with an electric motor integrated into the six-speed DSG gearbox. The petrol engine produces 150PS, while the electric motor adds 116PS, for a combined output of 204PS. The motor can operate independently or alongside the engine, starting the engine and replacing the traditional alternator.
The new 25.7kWh lithium-ion battery pack, nearly double the capacity of its predecessor, boosts the all-electric driving range to 84 miles in E-mode. The battery, located under the rear seats, benefits from integrated water cooling, regenerative braking, and external charging.
DC Charging Capability
For the first time, the Superb iV offers DC rapid charging through a new CCS socket. Relocated to the front wing for easier access, the ports support peak speeds of 50kW, allowing the battery to charge from 10-80% in about 26 minutes. The model also supports up to 11kW AC charging, achieving a 10-80% charge in approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes.

Driving Modes
The Superb iV offers three driving modes, accessible via the infotainment system’s ‘Hybrid’ icon:
- E-mode: Electric-only drive, starting the car in this mode if the battery is sufficiently charged and the outside temperature is above -10°C.
- Hybrid mode: The control unit assesses the driving situation, using the electric motor, engine, or both to minimize fuel consumption.
- Sport mode: Delivers dynamic performance, harnessing the maximum power of both the petrol engine and electric motor.
Price and Equipment
The Superb iV estate is available in three trims:
- SE Technology: From £41,465 OTR, with 17-inch alloys, a 13-inch infotainment display, heated front seats, and advanced driver assistance features.
- SE L: From £44,820 OTR, adding 18-inch wheels, LED matrix beam headlights, sports comfort seats, and an electrically-operated boot.
- Laurin & Klement (L&K): From £48,540 OTR, featuring 18-inch aero anthracite wheels, premium leather interior, a CANTON sound system, and advanced parking assist features.
The new Superb iV offers significant running cost savings, especially for fleet and company car drivers, thanks to a Benefit in Kind rate of just 5%. With the potential for further savings through home charging and low-rate overnight energy tariffs, the Superb iV is an attractive option for those looking to maximize efficiency and minimize costs.
