Nikola Corporation has expanded its hydrogen infrastructure in Southern California by opening a new HYLA refueling station at Tom’s Truck Center in Santa Fe Springs. This strategic move supports the increasing demand for sustainable transportation solutions along the “hydrogen highway” and aligns with Nikola’s goal of establishing a robust hydrogen fueling network to support its Class 8 hydrogen fuel cell electric trucks.
Key Highlights:
- Location: The new HYLA refueling station is located at 13443 Freeway Dr., Santa Fe Springs, California, at Tom’s Truck Center, a key part of Nikola’s sales and service network.
- Operational Goals: Nikola aims to have 14 refueling stations available by the end of the year, combining HYLA and partner stations.
- Strategic Positioning: The station forms a vital part of Nikola’s hydrogen fueling network, creating a fueling triangle in Southern California with existing stations in Ontario and Long Beach.
- Customer Support: Nikola emphasizes a strong customer experience with 24/7 support from dedicated HYLA Ambassadors and Operation Technicians.
- Partnerships: Collaborations with industry partners, including FirstElement Fuel, are central to expanding Nikola’s hydrogen supply chain.
Nikola continues to focus on infrastructure growth, ensuring that fueling solutions are in place to meet the anticipated demand for hydrogen fuel cell electric trucks. “Nikola is committed to leading the hydrogen revolution by collaborating with key industry partners to strengthen and expand our hydrogen supply chain,” said Ole Hoefelmann, President of Energy at Nikola. This new station is a testament to Nikola’s dedication to zero-emission transportation and sustainable energy solutions.
KC Heidler, President and CEO of Tom’s Truck Center, shared his excitement, saying, “We are thrilled to be the first in the U.S. to offer a hydrogen refueling station onsite at our dealership to support the first wave of Nikola hydrogen fuel cell electric trucks now on the roads.”
This expansion not only strengthens Nikola’s presence in Southern California but also plays a crucial role in the broader adoption of hydrogen as a clean energy source for transportation.
