NIO, Lotus Forge EV Charging Pact

At the recent 2024 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition, NIO and Lotus unveiled a strategic cooperation in EV charging and battery swapping technologies. This partnership aims to enhance the infrastructure and service network across China, marking a significant step in the advancement of the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem.

William Li, Founder, Chairman, and CEO of NIO, emphasized the importance of collaboration, stating, “Cooperation is always the best option. NIO has always been open to cooperation in charging and swapping technologies as well as infrastructure network deployment. We would like to work together with Lotus to push forward the development of the premium smart electric vehicle market.”

Qingfeng Feng, CEO of Group Lotus, highlighted the benefits of the partnership, “As an important direction supported and encouraged by the state policies, the innovations of battery swap and ‘vehicle-battery’ separation not only protect battery health and safety, but also enable users to continuously enjoy the dividends of battery technology progress.”

NIO’s Current Infrastructure

  • Power Swap Stations: 2,404 stations across China with 790 along expressways.
  • Charging Stations: 3,776 stations and 21,995 NIO Chargers including 364 NIO Power Charger Stations.
  • Open Network: NIO Chargers serve over 80% of non-NIO EVs, demonstrating a commitment to open technology.

Lotus’s Commitment to Electrification

  • Flash Charger Network: 72 Lotus Flash Charger stations providing superfast charging using 800V Electric Premium Architecture.
