The company intends to enter seven additional European markets in 2025 and 2026, collaborating with local distribution partners. This strategic initiative is designed to provide European consumers with an innovative, sustainable, and premium mobility experience, leveraging a multi-channel approach to broaden its reach.

Key Highlights:

  • NIO plans to launch operations in Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Hungary, Luxembourg, Poland, and Romania.
  • The expansion is scheduled for 2025 and 2026, facilitated by partnerships with established local distributors.
  • A multi-brand strategy will be introduced, featuring the NIO premium brand and the new Firefly brand for compact urban EVs.
  • Key partners include the Hedin Mobility Group for Belgium and Luxembourg, and AutoWallis for Austria, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Poland, and Romania.
  • The expansion underscores NIO’s commitment to delivering a premium user experience through integrated digital services and local expertise.

Strategic Partnerships Pave Way for Growth

NIO’s entry into these seven nations marks a new phase in its European growth strategy, reinforcing its long-term dedication to the region. For Belgium and Luxembourg, NIO is partnering with the Hedin Mobility Group, one of Europe’s largest mobility providers. AutoWallis, a leading car trading and mobility service provider in the Central and Eastern European (CEE) region, will serve as the partner for Austria and Hungary starting in 2025, and for the Czech Republic, Poland, and Romania by 2026.

“Europe is a core pillar of our global strategy and a region where we see tremendous potential for smart, user-centric mobility,” stated Thijs Meijling, Head of NIO Europe Business. “With these seven new countries, we are entering strategically important markets that are ready for sustainable innovation.” He further emphasized that NIO’s expansion focuses on markets where its integrated service and product landscape can deliver significant value to users.

Multi-Brand Offering to Serve Diverse Needs

The initial vehicle offerings in these new markets will include selections from two distinct brands:

  • NIO: This brand will continue to focus on premium smart electric vehicles. Models available will include the NIO EL6, a smart electric all-round SUV; the NIO EL8, a spacious and luxurious six-seat SUV; the NIO ET5, a mid-size smart electric sedan; and the NIO ET5 Touring, a versatile smart electric tourer. All NIO vehicles are built on proprietary software and hardware platforms, featuring intelligent driving capabilities and the NOMI AI assistant.
  • Firefly: This new brand will introduce high-end compact EVs, specifically tailored for urban users seeking intelligent and efficient small electric vehicles.

This multi-brand portfolio, addressing both premium and urban segments, combined with a scalable business model driven by digital innovation, aims to set new standards for smart mobility in Europe.

Enhanced User Experience Through Local Expertise

NIO’s approach is deeply rooted in its “User Enterprise DNA,” prioritizing user experience, flexibility, and service excellence. Thijs Meijling expressed confidence that their chosen partners, with their strong retail presence and local market knowledge, will uphold these high standards. “The ownership experience will be fully integrated: from financing and service to charging infrastructure and digital user services,” he added, ensuring a seamless and premium experience for new users.

These partnerships are integral to NIO’s long-term vision of establishing a sustainable mobility ecosystem in Europe and highlight the increasing momentum of its expansion strategy.
