Nissan Launches Service Activated Warranty for EVs

Nissan's new UK Service Activated Warranty extends BEV coverage to six years or 100,000 miles when owners keep up with dealer servicing on the Micra, LEAF and Ariya.

Nissan has introduced a warranty program in the United Kingdom that ties extended coverage on eligible battery electric vehicles to routine dealer servicing, providing up to six years or 100,000 miles of protection, whichever comes first. The Service Activated Warranty program has been active since July 1, 2026, and covers the All-New Micra, All-New LEAF and 2026 model year Ariya, with future Nissan electric vehicles also eligible. Nicolas Belaud, Nissan GB Aftersales Director, said the program reflects the automaker’s experience supporting electric vehicles in the UK market. All Nissan electric vehicle models also qualify for the UK government’s Electric Car Grant, which has been available for 12 months, adding to the value proposition for buyers.

Highlights

  • Up to six years or 100,000 miles of coverage, activated through scheduled dealer servicing after the standard warranty expires
  • Applies to the All-New Micra, All-New LEAF and 2026 model year Ariya, with future Nissan EVs also eligible
  • Standard manufacturer warranty of three years or 60,000 miles can be extended by 12 months with each qualifying service
  • Separate Lithium-Ion Battery Warranty remains in place for up to eight years or 100,000 miles, unaffected by the new program

How the Service Activated Warranty Works

All qualifying vehicles start with Nissan’s standard manufacturer warranty, which covers three years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first. Once that warranty expires, owners can activate an additional 12 months of coverage each year, up to a maximum vehicle age of six years or 100,000 miles, by completing an eligible service within the Nissan retailer network and following the automaker’s recommended service schedule.

Belaud said: “We are hugely excited about our new Service Activated warranty proposition, which we are sure will appeal to customers interested in purchasing one of our award-winning all-electric cars.

“Nissan has more than 15 years of experience looking after EVs in the UK, more than any other manufacturer, and the service activated warranty highlights our confidence in our electric vehicles and offers even more customer benefit in bringing a car to the experts for servicing.

“For a Nissan owner, taking their car to a Nissan dealership for routine servicing is a no-brainer. With state-of-the art facilities, access to genuine manufacturer parts and fully qualified Nissan technicians, owners can rest assured that their cars are in the best possible hands with us.”

Staying Eligible for Coverage

To stay covered, Nissan asks owners to follow the manufacturer’s recommended service schedule, complete the service due before the standard warranty expires — typically the third inspection — within the Nissan retailer network, and return to a Nissan dealership or authorized repairer for each scheduled service afterward, up to the six-year or 100,000-mile limit.

Owners who service outside the Nissan network can still qualify if their vehicle has a full service history, by returning to the Nissan network for future services. Vehicles without a full service history may need an additional check alongside the routine inspection before becoming eligible.

Which Nissan Models Qualify?

The program covers the All-New Micra, including every unit sold since launch, the All-New LEAF arriving in UK showrooms this summer, and the 2026 model year Ariya. Nissan says future all-electric passenger vehicles will also qualify as they launch.

Used Nissan EVs Also Covered

Pre-owned examples of the All-New Micra, All-New LEAF and 2026 model year Ariya are included under the same terms as new vehicles. Eligibility depends on service work being completed within the Nissan retailer network, with each inspection finished before the existing warranty period expires to activate the next 12 months of cover. As with new vehicles, cars lacking a full service history may require an additional check.

Does the Program Affect Nissan’s Battery Warranty?

No. Nissan’s separate Lithium-Ion Battery Warranty, covering up to eight years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first, remains in place independently of the Service Activated Warranty program.
