Michigan-based energy storage company ONE announced today that Paul Humphries has been appointed as its new CEO, effective immediately. Humphries, a founding board member, brings over 40 years of manufacturing and operations expertise to the company.
Humphries previously served as Group President of High Reliability Solutions at Flex Ltd., overseeing an $11 billion unit encompassing automotive, industrial, energy, and medical businesses. He also held the position of Corporate Chief Innovation Officer.
“There’s a pressing need for a US battery manufacturer and domestically made cells that offer extended range, improved energy density, and utilize readily available materials,” said Humphries. “It’s an honor to lead this talented team and implement ONE’s vision as we scale production of LFP cells in Michigan, serving both transportation and energy storage markets with transformative technology.”
Founding CEO Mujeeb Ijaz will transition to Vice-Chairman and Chief Technology Officer, focusing on product engineering. Faysal Sohail, the remaining founding board member, will become Chairman of the Board, leveraging his 20+ years of experience in board leadership.
“Change fuels growth, and this is our moment to accelerate,” said Ijaz. “Through diverse leadership and hard work, we will achieve our shared vision of becoming the North American battery leader.”
Sohail added, “We have an opportunity to revolutionize the global energy landscape. These changes will enable ONE to grow steadily and pursue its goals with the innovation that defines our company.”
With the new leadership structure in place, ONE is poised for significant expansion, transitioning from R&D to full-scale production of LFP-based products. In October, the company commenced pilot production of LFP cells at its Michigan-based ONE Circle Gigafactory, following earlier production of Aries LFP battery packs.
