XCharge North America (NA), a leader in DC high-power and battery-integrated electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions, has announced a partnership with Kaptyn, a luxury private driver service. This collaboration will significantly enhance Kaptyn’s EV charging infrastructure at their Las Vegas facility by replacing ten Level 2 charging stations with eight direct current fast charging (DCFC) ports. This upgrade aims to reduce charging times and increase vehicle turnover for Kaptyn’s fleet.
Key Highlights:
- XCharge North America (NA) partners with Kaptyn to upgrade their EV charging infrastructure.
- Eight DCFC ports will replace ten Level 2 chargers at Kaptyn’s Las Vegas facility.
- The upgrade will reduce charging times and enhance vehicle turnover.
- Kaptyn’s fleet includes 100 EVs nationwide, with 55 primarily Tesla vehicles in Las Vegas.
- The new charging solution will improve operational efficiency without requiring expensive power upgrades.
Kaptyn, which operates 100 EVs across the United States, primarily in the Las Vegas market, has faced challenges with its current Level 2 chargers. These chargers often necessitate outsourcing to Tesla’s Super Charging Network, already congested with competing businesses and Tesla owners. The partnership with XCharge NA addresses this issue by providing advanced charging technology that fits within Kaptyn’s existing power capacity.
“Kaptyn continues its mission as a leader in the development of transportation technologies and services for the private car, limousine, and taxi industries,” said Andrew Meyers, Kaptyn’s Founder, CEO, and Chairman. “A key element of Kaptyn’s business DNA has been standing lead on advancement, investment, and commitment to sustainability and the transition to electrified vehicles.”
The new DCFC solutions from XCharge NA will streamline Kaptyn’s operations by bridging the infrastructure gap without costly power upgrades. The deployment of XCharge NA’s 208v Level 3 solutions will reduce charge cycle times and enhance overall efficiency.
“We required a partner who could ensure our expanding fleet had the necessary charging solutions,” said JJ Bell, Kaptyn’s Vice President of Fleet Operation. “The partnership with XCharge North America ticked all the boxes.”
XCharge NA’s solutions will enable Kaptyn to maintain high efficiency without relying on third-party chargers, ensuring a consistent and reliable charging process for their fleet. This partnership highlights XCharge NA’s commitment to supporting fleet electrification with innovative and scalable charging solutions that operate within existing grid capacities.
“Charging solutions for EV fleets has always been at the core of XCharge North America’s mission,” said Aatish Patel, XCharge NA’s Co-founder and President. “This partnership underscores our commitment to providing a scalable EV charger strategy.”
The new charging station will be operational at Kaptyn’s Las Vegas facility by May 22, 2024, marking the first XCharge NA charging hub installation for Kaptyn, with plans for future deployments across their portfolio over the next five years.
