The launch of the updated Taycan introduces significant improvements, including an increased range, more efficient charging processes, and robustness in its charging capabilities. During a range test encompassing a round trip from Los Angeles to San Diego, the Taycan demonstrated its superior efficiency. “For the particularly efficient Taycan sports saloon with the large battery, this practical, final test resulted in a total range of up to 587 kilometres,” stated Kevin Giek, Vice President for the Taycan model line. He emphasized the vehicle’s efficiency and Porsche’s commitment to the ‘fast travel’ strategy, which aims for short charging times and long ranges.
The range test, conducted under real-world conditions with twelve international media representatives, involved four vehicles driving at the interstate speed limit of 75 mph (approximately 120 km/h). All vehicles were equipped with the Performance Battery Plus, showcasing not just the Taycan’s range but also its impressive charging capabilities. At an Electrify America Charger in Torrance/Los Angeles, the Taycan achieved more than 300 kW of charging power, allowing it to charge from 10 to 80 percent in under 20 minutes.
Since its inception, Porsche has produced nearly 150,000 Taycans, with the U.S., the U.K., Germany, and China being its largest markets. The extensively revised Taycan is set to be presented shortly, promising to further cement Porsche’s position in the electric vehicle market.
