Registro Italiano E-motion, the world’s first Porsche Club dedicated exclusively to electric vehicles, completed its inaugural group road trip in September. A total of 131 participants drove 73 electric Porsche vehicles from Italy’s Franciacorta Porsche Experience Center to Hans-Peter Porsche’s Traumwerk museum near Salzburg, Austria.
Highlights
- Registro Italiano E-motion is the first Porsche Club worldwide restricted to all-electric models, with a fleet of 42 Taycan and 31 Macan variants on the trip.
- Two mobile Porsche turbo charging units provided 2.1 MWh each, powering 10 fast-charging stations at up to 280 kW to keep 73 vehicles charged en route.
- The club grew from a small pandemic-era group chat into an officially recognized organization, founded in May at the Franciacorta Porsche Experience Center.
- Members range in age from their late 20s to mid-70s, reflecting broad demographic appeal for electric Porsche ownership.

How the Club Formed
The club traces its origins to 2021. During the pandemic, a small group of early Taycan owners in Italy created a group chat. They initially discussed vehicle software and charging infrastructure, according to club spokesperson Andrea Siviero.
Club president Massimo Piccinno, a Porsche driver for over 30 years, was among those early members. He purchased his first electric car in 2015 and eventually added two Taycan and one Macan to his garage. As a result, his experience helped the growing community navigate EV ownership.
The group expanded from a handful of members to roughly 60. At that point, someone suggested formalizing it as an all-electric Porsche Club. Both the community and Porsche Italia supported the idea. The founding charter was signed in May at the Franciacorta Porsche Experience Center.
Fleet Composition and Variants
The 73 vehicles on the road trip represented a wide cross-section of Porsche’s electric lineup. The fleet broke down as follows:
- 42 Taycan models in variants including rear- and all-wheel-drive, S, Turbo S, and two Turbo GT with Weissach package
- 31 Macan Electric models, several fitted as pre-launch sneak preview configurations
- Six vehicles with Paint to Sample custom finishes, including Fjord Green, Signal Yellow, and Moonlight Blue Metallic
The two Taycan Turbo GT models with Weissach package also compete in the Porsche Taycan Rush Championships. This is a timed flying-lap racing series established by Porsche Italia in 2025 that emphasizes both speed and energy management.

Mobile Charging Infrastructure on the Route
Charging logistics for 73 EVs required specialized planning. Because the public grid could not accommodate all vehicles simultaneously, Porsche deployed two mobile turbo charging units typically used at European racecourses.
Each unit featured lithium batteries weighing approximately 14 tons. Together, they provided the following capacity:
- Energy storage: 2.1 MWh per unit
- Charging stations: 10 fast-charging points per unit
- Maximum charging speed: Up to 280 kW
Charging assistants rotated vehicles through the stations. This ensured every car reached full charge before the next leg of the trip.

The Route: Italy to Austria
The road trip covered a multi-day route through the Alps. Participants departed from the Franciacorta Porsche Experience Center in Lombardy and drove approximately 250 kilometers to Brixen in South Tyrol for a lunch and charging stop.
From there, the group continued north through winding two-lane roads to Sterzing. The route then crossed the Brenner Pass at 1,374 meters elevation, marking the Alpine divide between Italy and Austria. A brief transit through Germany past Lake Chiemsee brought the group to Salzburg for an evening gathering.
Arrival at Traumwerk Museum
On Sunday morning, the group visited Hans-Peter Porsche Traumwerk. This interactive museum near Salzburg houses the private collection of Ferdinand Porsche’s grandson. Hans-Peter Porsche welcomed participants in person.
However, what stood out most was the diversity of the club’s membership. Participants included IT entrepreneurs, music producers, a cameraman who has worked on major Hollywood productions, and a 28-year-old car content creator with 1.2 million YouTube followers. The youngest participant was nine-month-old Edoardo, who attended with his family.
A Different Kind of Porsche Club
Andrea Gruppach, President of the Italian Porsche Club association, noted that Registro Italiano E-motion attracts younger members and more families than traditional Porsche clubs. Meanwhile, the club’s approach to road trips differs from conventional enthusiast groups.
Rather than prioritizing speed, the electric club embraces a more relaxed pace. Charging breaks double as social events. In fact, the group departed one stop two hours behind schedule — not because of charging delays, but because members were enjoying the food and conversation.
Additionally, the Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach package that attended delivers up to 760 kW (1,034 PS) of overboost power. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.2 seconds with Launch Control and reaches a top speed of 305 km/h.
What This Means for EV Community Building
Registro Italiano E-motion represents a shift in how automakers cultivate brand loyalty around electric vehicles. The club demonstrates that EV ownership can foster community engagement comparable to traditional combustion-era car culture — with charging stops serving as natural gathering points rather than inconveniences.
