Porsche’s New Hybrid Models Unveiled

Porsche has expanded its Panamera lineup, introducing the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid and Panamera 4S E-Hybrid. These additions underscore the automaker’s commitment to efficient, dynamic E-Hybrid powertrains, catering to growing global demand. Porsche’s enhanced E-Performance strategy brings more power, reduced charging times, and the optional Porsche Active Ride suspension to the forefront.

The Panamera 4 E-Hybrid aims at efficiency and power, blending a newly developed hybrid system with a revised 2.9-liter V6 twin-turbo engine, delivering 463 hp and 479 lb.-ft. of torque. This power allows it to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.9 seconds, reaching a top speed of 174 mph. Conversely, the Panamera 4S E-Hybrid focuses on driving dynamics, with its own 2.9-liter twin-turbo engine producing 536 hp and 553 lb.-ft. of torque, enabling a 0 to 60 mph acceleration in 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 180 mph.

Key advancements include a 45 percent larger battery capacity and a higher charging speed, alongside an electric motor capable of 187 hp and 331 lb.-ft. of torque. This setup not only enhances performance but also contributes to an improved all-electric range. The inclusion of optimized E-Hybrid driving modes further elevates efficiency and performance, utilizing vehicle and navigation data to adapt powertrain strategies dynamically.

Innovations extend to the chassis, with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and the optional Porsche Active Ride system, offering unparalleled traction, cornering, and comfort. The adaptive two-chamber air suspension and two-valve dampers adjust up to 13 times per second, ensuring optimal ride quality across varying conditions.

Design-wise, the new Panamera models boast a sporty aesthetic, with LED Matrix Design headlights, a continuous taillight, and distinctive air intakes. Standard features have been enriched across the board, including Lane Change Assist, 14-way comfort seats, and heated steering wheels. The 4 E-Hybrid comes with 19-inch wheels and LED headlights, while the 4S E-Hybrid upgrades to 20-inch wheels, sport tailpipes, and optionally, Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes.

The Panamera 4 E-Hybrid is priced at $115,500, and the Panamera 4S E-Hybrid at $126,800, excluding additional fees. Orders commence at the end of March, with U.S. dealership arrivals expected in Fall 2024.
