RBW Sports & Classics, a U.K.-based manufacturer of hand-built electric classic sports cars, is set to establish its first U.S. manufacturing facility in Danville-Pittsylvania County, Virginia. The new $8 million facility at Cane Creek Centre will produce RBW’s first left-hand drive electric Roadster and GT models specifically for the U.S. market. The project is expected to create 144 new jobs, reinforcing Virginia’s growing reputation as a hub for cutting-edge automotive innovation.

Governor Glenn Youngkin praised the investment, noting, “Entrepreneurial, innovative companies like RBW Sports & Classics are helping put Virginia on the map for cutting-edge industry and jobs.” He emphasized that Virginia’s skilled workforce and favorable business environment were key factors in RBW’s decision to establish its U.S. operations in the state.

Peter Swain, CEO of RBW Sports & Classics, expressed excitement about the company’s U.S. expansion, stating, “The new facility in Virginia supports RBW’s entry to the U.S. market. We are both excited and honoured to have been offered support from Virginia.”

Local leaders, including Danville Mayor Alonzo Jones and Senator Tammy Mulchi, welcomed RBW’s investment, highlighting the positive impact on the community and the region’s growing role in the electric vehicle industry.

RBW Sports & Classics, founded in 2017, has established itself as a pioneer in electric classic sports cars, delivering its first vehicles in 2022. The company’s patented EV architecture and systems are adaptable to various body styles, including iconic models like the Ford Mustang and Jaguar E-Type.

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership, alongside regional partners, played a pivotal role in securing the project, with Governor Youngkin approving a $500,000 grant to support the initiative.
