Renault’s latest creation builds on the legacy of its rally-bred predecessors, the Renault 5 Turbo and Turbo 2, which pioneered turbocharging in French cars. Now, the Turbo 3E emerges as Renault’s most powerful road car to date, boasting a custom platform and a carbon superstructure for agility and strength. Measuring just 4 meters long, it delivers supercar-level specs in a compact hot hatch form, defining a new category: the mini-supercar. Its rear-wheel-drive architecture and in-wheel motors produce 4,800 Nm of torque, ensuring thrilling agility and drift-ready dynamics.
The vehicle’s 800-volt architecture supports its impressive 350 kW DC charging capability, making it practical for both road and track use. A 70 kWh battery offers a range exceeding 400 km (WLTP), while the lightweight design—tipping the scales at 1,450 kg—enhances efficiency and handling. As Fabrice Cambolive, CEO of Renault brand, stated, “By creating the new category of electric ‘mini-supercars’ with the Renault 5 Turbo 3E, the Renault brand once again demonstrates the passion and spirit of boldness and innovation that has always driven it.”

Visually, the Turbo 3E echoes its predecessors with a retro-futuristic flair. Its aerodynamic design, featuring a prominent bumper and rear wing, optimizes efficiency and sportiness. Gilles Vidal, Vice President of Design, Renault & Ampere, noted, “Reinterpreting the legendary Renault 5 Turbo and Turbo 2 is a bold challenge. We have preserved their exuberance and racing spirit while integrating modern technologies and optimized aerodynamics for the electric era.” Inside, bucket seats, carbon components, and a rally-style handbrake underscore its performance intent, paired with modern OpenR screens for connectivity.
Set to launch in 2027, the Renault 5 Turbo 3E will cater to enthusiasts with its limited production and personalization options. Reservations open soon, signaling Renault’s commitment to blending heritage with electrification under its Renaulution plan. This mini-supercar stands as a testament to the brand’s innovative spirit and passion for competition.
