Renault has unveiled the Master H2-Tech Prototype, a hydrogen-powered van that promises to revolutionize commercial transport with a range of up to 700 km and a rapid 5-minute refueling time. This new prototype was introduced at the IAA Transportation event in Hannover, showcasing Renault’s commitment to zero-emission technology and professional mobility solutions. Manufactured in France, the Master H2-Tech integrates cutting-edge hydrogen architecture without sacrificing the vehicle’s load capacity or operational efficiency.
Key Highlights
- 700 km range on a single charge under WLTP conditions.
- 5-minute refueling time, providing unmatched operational efficiency.
- Zero-emission hydrogen fuel cell technology, ideal for intensive professional use.
- Available in multiple configurations: van, floor cab, and chassis cab.
- Manufactured in France, with 84% of suppliers based in the country.
- Developed by HYVIA, a joint venture between Renault and Plug focused on hydrogen mobility.
- Commercial launch expected in 2025.
Renault has designed the Master H2-Tech to ensure constant operational availability and cater to professional users’ needs across various industries. This hydrogen-powered version joins the existing internal combustion and electric models, all produced on the same multi-energy platform in France. The integration of dual power (battery and fuel cell) ensures high energy efficiency and reliability, while maintaining the spaciousness and payload capacity that Renault’s commercial customers expect.
The Master H2-Tech benefits from the expertise of HYVIA, which is working to build a complete hydrogen ecosystem, including hydrogen stations and carbon-free fuel supply. With the prototype currently in the final stages of development, Renault expects the hydrogen-powered Master to set a new benchmark for sustainable, high-performance commercial vehicles when it enters the market in 2025.
In line with Renault’s ambitious Renaulution strategic plan, this innovation underscores the company’s shift toward electrified and hydrogen mobility solutions, aiming to lead in sustainable transportation.
