RPX Rebrands From Solar Power Accelerator to Target Electric Truck Charging

RPX, formerly Solar Power Accelerator, rebrands to focus on renewable-powered charging infrastructure for electric heavy-duty trucks across Europe, adding AI fleet software and Battery-as-a-Service.

Stockholm-based Solar Power Accelerator has rebranded to Renewable Power Accelerator (RPX) and pivoted its business toward delivering renewable energy to charging infrastructure for electric heavy-duty trucks across Europe. The company, which originally focused on commercial rooftop solar in Sweden, said declining demand in that segment prompted a strategic shift toward e-mobility beginning in late 2024.

Highlights

  • RPX now delivers solar- and wind-powered charging infrastructure for electric heavy-duty trucks along European transport corridors, logistics depots, and freight terminals.
  • Two new service lines launched: an AI-powered fleet management platform and a Battery-as-a-Service leasing model designed to achieve cost parity with diesel trucks.
  • The eHDT market is projected to grow at roughly 10% CAGR through 2035, with total cost of ownership expected to favor electric trucks by 2027.
  • Active projects span the Nordics, the U.K., Spain, and Poland, with the company currently raising capital through convertible bond notes.

From Rooftop Solar to Freight Electrification

Founded in early 2023, the company initially scaled commercial and industrial rooftop solar installations across Sweden. Property owners could monetize surplus electricity through Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs). RPX said changing market conditions drove the decision to redirect toward heavy-duty transport electrification, a sector that accounts for more than 25% of EU carbon emissions.

RPX’s integrated model supplies charging stations with 100% renewable energy through onsite microgrids, battery storage, and load balancing. The company supplements this with locally contracted PPAs from European power distributors.

AI Software and Battery-as-a-Service

The rebrand accompanies two new platform offerings. The first is an AI-automated fleet management application with features for navigation planning, energy pricing control, advanced driver assistance systems, and renewable energy certification. The software includes interfaces for drivers, charging point operators, and third-party logistics providers.

The second is a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) leasing model structured with truck manufacturers. RPX said the BaaS approach is designed to bring total cost of ownership for electric trucks to parity with diesel vehicles.

“Adding a client centric software defined vehicle and infrastructure offering strengthens our leadership position as it boosts our capacity to scale the renewable energy transition for eHDT deployment in Europe,” said Pär-Olof Johannesson, Co-founder, CEO, and Chairman of the Board of Directors.

Market Context and Expansion Plans

The transport and logistics sector’s outsized share of EU emissions has drawn increasing regulatory pressure. RPX cited projections that the eHDT market will sustain approximately 10% compound annual growth through 2035, with electric trucks reaching cost competitiveness against diesel within the next two years.

“We are part of a broader paradigm shift toward renewable logistics,” said William Granelli, Co-founder and Vice President. “Recent macroeconomic and geopolitical developments have further highlighted the risks of fossil fuel dependency and the urgency of transitioning to resilient, redundant, and locally sourced renewable energy systems.”

RPX is developing projects across the Nordic region, the United Kingdom, Spain, and Poland. The name change was formally approved at an extraordinary general meeting of Solar Power Accelerator AB on April 10, 2026.
