Siemens, a global leader in smart infrastructure, has announced a strategic investment in Emporia Energy, making Siemens a part shareholder in the smart home energy management company. This move is set to advance the development of intelligent solutions for residential energy use, empowering homeowners to better manage their energy consumption and lower utility costs.
Key Highlights
- Siemens’ strategic investment makes it a part shareholder in Emporia Energy, a pioneer in home energy management technology.
- The partnership strengthens the development and offering of the Inhab® suite of Intelligent Habitat solutions.
- This collaboration aims to provide homeowners with greater transparency and control over their energy usage, including appliances, EV chargers, and solar generation.
- The investment addresses the growing complexity and costs associated with the increased electrification of homes and transportation.
- It combines Siemens’ expertise in power distribution with Emporia’s advanced hardware and software for smart homes.
A Strategic Partnership for Home Energy
This investment deepens an existing collaboration between the two companies, which previously resulted in the launch of the Inhab® Energy Monitor. This innovative device provides homeowners with real-time insights into their home’s energy usage. By tracking power consumption from individual appliances to entire systems like EV chargers and solar arrays, the monitor delivers actionable data to help users improve efficiency and save money.
“Our evolving relationship with Emporia underscores Siemens’ commitment to driving innovation and creating greater value for our residential customers that have a growing need for smart home energy management,” stated Jacob Middleton, Head of Residential Electrical Products at Siemens Smart Infrastructure USA. “Combining Siemens’ strength in power distribution and circuit protection with Emporia’s expertise in developing a suite of Smart Home Energy Management hardware and software offerings allows for both companies to advance our combined commitment to transform smart home energy management.”
Addressing Modern Homeowner Challenges
The trend toward electrification in homes, from appliances to electric vehicles, places increasing demand on residential electrical systems. This can lead to greater complexity and higher utility costs. In response, Siemens introduced Inhab®, a suite of solutions designed to give homeowners more transparency and control over their energy use while saving money for homeowners, builders, and contractors alike.
The partnership with Emporia is a significant step toward this goal. “Siemens’ investment is a major milestone for Emporia and a strong validation of our approach to smart home energy management,” said Shawn McLaughlin, CEO of Emporia Energy. “Together, we’re making it easier and more affordable for homeowners to understand and automate their energy use—while also building the foundation for a smarter, more resilient grid.”
