Loop Global has energized a 64-port Level 2 charging installation at 36–40 Sprague Street in Hyde Park, Massachusetts, the largest multifamily EV charging deployment in Boston according to Ohm Analytics. The ground-up development from Commonwealth Development Partners spans 247 units across two residential buildings, with chargers covering 25% of available parking spaces. Eversource utility incentives funded approximately 70% of total project costs, including infrastructure for all 64 ports and a portion of the charging hardware.
Highlights
- 64 Loop Flex 32A Level 2 chargers installed across two residential buildings at 36–40 Sprague Street
- Chargers cover 25% of available parking spaces at the 247-unit development
- Eversource utility incentives covered approximately 70% of total project costs
- Installation began October 2025 with commissioning completed in early 2026
Project Scope and Design Approach
The Hyde Park deployment uses Loop’s Flex 32A Level 2 chargers paired with the company’s networked charging platform, which delivers real-time monitoring, energy management, and resident-facing charging functions. Commonwealth Development Partners selected the site for its transit connectivity to downtown Boston and surrounding suburbs, and the development team integrated charging infrastructure into the project from the earliest planning stages rather than treating it as a retrofit.
DMH Electric served as electrical contractor and worked with Eversource to secure the utility incentives that offset most of the project cost. Design work and rebate applications were submitted in early 2025. Installation began in October 2025, and energization and commissioning wrapped up in early 2026.
Executive Commentary
Esther M. Santos, Vice President and Head of Sales at Loop Global, said the project illustrates what coordinated delivery can produce in the multifamily segment. “This project is a perfect example of what becomes possible when developers, utilities, and technology partners come together with a shared vision,” Santos said. “We’re incredibly proud to have played a central role in delivering the largest multifamily EV charging installation in Boston. Residents at 36–40 Sprague Street will have the kind of reliable, at-home charging experience that makes EV ownership easy and accessible. That’s the future we’re building toward, and projects like this prove it’s already here.”
Matthew Faris, Co-Founder and Managing Partner at Commonwealth Development Partners, said charging was treated as foundational rather than supplemental. “When we set out to develop 36–40 Sprague Street, we knew EV charging couldn’t be an afterthought. It had to be part of the foundation,” Faris said. “With 247 units and a transit-oriented location, we’re building for residents who are already thinking about how they move through the city. Loop made it easy to deliver large-scale charging from day one, and that’s the kind of amenity that sets a development apart and adds real, lasting value for our residents and our investment.”
David Hinckley Jr., President at DMH Electric, framed the project in terms of where most charging actually happens. “Multifamily EV charging is one of the most important pieces of the transition to electric vehicles,” Hinckley said. “Most drivers charge where they live, and projects like this ensure residents have reliable, convenient access to charging at home. By combining smart design, utility incentives, and scalable charging technology, this development is helping prepare housing for the future of transportation.”
Multifamily Focus
The deployment reflects Loop’s continued focus on large-scale multifamily charging. The company reports that the project demonstrates how coordinated delivery among developers, utilities, technology providers, and electrical contractors can scale at-home charging access for residents in multi-tenant buildings.
