Roam Deploys 112 EV Chargers Across Hand Picked Hotels

Roam Charging will install 112 EV charge points across 20 Hand Picked Hotels properties in the UK and Channel Islands, covering design, deployment, and ongoing maintenance under a destination-charging deal.

Roam Charging will install 112 EV charge points at 20 Hand Picked Hotels properties across the UK and Channel Islands, the destination-charging operator announced on May 14. The agreement covers the group’s portfolio of country house hotels and coastal resorts, many set within historic estates. Roam will handle design, deployment, and ongoing maintenance under a full-lifecycle model.

Highlights

  • 112 EV charge points to be installed across 20 Hand Picked Hotels properties
  • Rollout spans hotels in the UK and the Channel Islands
  • Roam manages design, deployment, and ongoing maintenance
  • Target use cases include overnight stays, spa visits, and events

A Destination-Charging Fit for Heritage Hotels

Hand Picked Hotels operates individually styled, heritage-rich properties across the UK and Channel Islands, including locations within historic estates and countryside settings. Roam, formerly EVC, has positioned itself as a destination-charging specialist for the hospitality, workplace, residential, and retail sectors, and the hotel group’s dwell-time profile — overnight stays, spa visits, and events — aligns with the slow-to-mid-speed charging model Roam deploys.

The partnership reflects rising demand for EV infrastructure in premium hospitality, where guests increasingly expect charging as part of the stay rather than an amenity to be sought out separately. Country house hotels in particular are often located away from motorway corridors and rapid-charging hubs, making on-site provision a meaningful gap-filler for guests arriving in electric vehicles.

Full-Lifecycle Deployment

Roam will manage the full lifecycle of the installations across the 20 properties, covering design, deployment, and ongoing maintenance. The single-operator model is intended to deliver a consistent guest experience across the portfolio, addressing one of the persistent friction points in destination charging — variable hardware, software, and payment systems from site to site.

Through the Roam app, drivers can pay flexibly, track charging progress in real time, and monitor carbon savings.

CEO Comment

James Randall, CEO of Roam Charging, said the hotel group’s footprint mapped well to the company’s deployment model:

“This partnership with Hand Picked Hotels is a natural fit. Their portfolio of unique, high-quality destinations across the UK and Channel Islands offers exactly the kind of dwell-time environment where EV charging adds real value. Together, we’re enabling guests to travel more sustainably without compromising on comfort or experience. As EV adoption accelerates, collaborations like this will be essential in ensuring infrastructure keeps pace with changing customer expectations.”

The deployment adds to Roam’s existing hospitality footprint, which already includes partnerships with multiple national hotel groups across the UK.
