Škoda Auto achieves a landmark in its e-mobility journey, announcing the production of 200,000 Enyaq and Enyaq Coupé models. This milestone underscores the brand’s successful transition towards electric vehicles (EVs), with the Enyaq family at the forefront. The latest 2024 model year promises advancements in performance, including more powerful drivetrains, faster charging capabilities, and an extended range, alongside an updated, user-friendly software interface. This development aligns with Škoda’s broader e-mobility ambitions, highlighted by the upcoming introduction of the Elroq, a new all-electric compact SUV, and six additional electric models in the near future.
Andreas Dick, Board Member for Production and Logistics at Škoda Auto, commented, “The Enyaq has led the charge in our e-mobility campaign; the model family’s success is proof that we are on the right track with our strategy. Last year, it was the fourth best-selling electric vehicle series in Europe, achieving a record-breaking global sales figure of 81,700 units – an increase of 52.1% over 2022. This achievement underscores our commitment to expanding our electric vehicle range to a total of six new models in the coming years. Our ambitious targets are within reach, thanks to the expertise of our team and our Simply Clever ethos, ensuring a smooth transition into the new era of e-mobility.”
The Enyaq: Spearheading Škoda’s Electric Future Launched in September 2020, the Enyaq was the first Škoda model to utilize the Volkswagen Group’s Modular Electrification Toolkit (MEB), facilitating the production of both MEB and MQB models. In 2023, Škoda delivered 81,700 units of this all-electric SUV, marking a significant 52.1% increase from the previous year. The Enyaq not only offers emission-free mobility but is also delivered with a carbon-neutral balance sheet.
2024 Updates for the Enyaq Family For the 2024 model year, the Enyaq series introduces significant updates, notably more powerful electric motors and a new software version for an improved user interface. These enhancements contribute to an increased range, optimized charging efficiency, and the capability for battery pre-heating, reducing charging times significantly. The Enyaq family now boasts a maximum range of over 560 kilometres for the SUV variant and more than 570 kilometres for the Coupé version.
Škoda’s E-Mobility Commitment Škoda Auto’s dedication to e-mobility is evident in its €5.6 billion investment towards this initiative by 2027. The company also ramped up its MEB battery production capacity to 1,500 units daily with a new production line in December 2023. The forthcoming launch of the Elroq will further expand Škoda’s battery-electric vehicle (BEV) portfolio, marking its entry into the competitive battery-electric compact SUV segment.
