A New Electric Vehicle Campaign

The ID. CROSS Concept is the fourth model in Volkswagen’s new entry-level electric lineup, following the ID.2 all, the ID. GTI Concept, and the ID. EVERY1. Production versions of these vehicles are scheduled to be launched successively from 2026. The world premiere of the production version of the ID.2 all, to be named the ID. Polo, is set for the first half of 2026, with the ID. Polo GTI following shortly after. The final production version of the ID. CROSS is expected to debut in the summer of 2026, while the ID. EVERY1 will be a highlight for 2027.

These four models are part of a larger, cross-brand product campaign within the Brand Group Core (which includes SEAT & CUPRA, ŠKODA, and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles). This strategy leverages synergies and economies of scale to offer technically advanced and attractively priced electric cars in Europe.

Iconic and Modern Design

Presented in an Urban Jungle green finish, the ID. CROSS Concept embodies Volkswagen’s new “Pure Positive” design language. According to Volkswagen Head of Design Andreas Mindt, this approach is built on the core principles of stability, likeability, and “secret sauce.” The design features pure, clear lines and powerful surfaces that create a trend-setting SUV identity. The vehicle’s front and rear graphics and 3D light signatures are designed to give the impression that the car is “smiling.”

The design also pays homage to brand icons like the Golf and the VW bus, particularly in its charismatic C-pillars and straight window line, reinforcing the company’s strong design heritage.

Compact Dimensions, Expansive Interior

While the ID. CROSS Concept has exterior dimensions similar to the current T-Cross (4,161 mm long, 1,839 mm wide, and 1,588 mm tall), its interior packaging is exceptionally spacious. The five-seater offers an impressive 450-liter boot volume, supplemented by a 25-liter compartment under the front bonnet. The interior, finished in a warm Vanilla Chai beige, is designed as a comfortable lounge with high-quality, fabric-covered surfaces.

Highlights include pre-configured light, sound, and climate modes called “Atmospheres” and specially designed seats that can fold flat to create a reclining area. The concept also rides on unique 21-inch “Balboa” alloy wheels with specially designed Goodyear tires.

Advanced Technology and Cockpit

The vehicle’s cockpit is designed for intuitive operation and focused driving. It features a redesigned multifunction steering wheel with clear button controls. The digital instruments (11-inch display) and the central infotainment touchscreen (13-inch display) are arranged on a single visual axis, creating a harmonious and user-friendly interface that combines touch displays, natural voice control, and physical buttons for direct functions.

Next-Generation Electric Platform

The ID. CROSS Concept is built on the MEB+, the next evolutionary stage of the modular electric drive matrix. This front-wheel-drive platform will see continuous improvements in its motors, batteries, and software. The newly developed drive system in the concept car features an electric motor integrated into the front axle that produces 155kW (211 PS).

The platform’s advanced software will bring functions from higher vehicle segments, such as an enhanced Travel Assist, to more affordable models. The ID. CROSS Concept is projected to have a WLTP range of up to 420 kilometers. It is also practical, with a drawbar load capacity of 75 kg for e-bikes and a maximum braked trailer weight of up to 1,200 kg.
