The contract, signed by representatives on February 3rd, marks the latest phase in Warsaw’s strategy to expand its zero-emission fleet. The Solaris Urbino 18 electric, a flagship model in the company’s lineup, is celebrated for its efficiency and modern design. Each bus is outfitted with an electric motor supported by advanced Solaris High Energy batteries, ensuring reliable performance and optimal energy management. Charging is conveniently conducted at the depot using a standard plug-in connection, which simplifies the operational logistics for the city’s transport authorities.
Designed with passenger comfort and efficiency in mind, the Urbino 18 electric buses feature a modular drive system. This system allows the drive components to be mounted on the roof, thereby maximizing the interior space and enabling each bus to accommodate up to 103 passengers. This thoughtful design not only enhances the commuting experience but also demonstrates Solaris’s commitment to integrating advanced engineering with practical urban mobility solutions.
Solaris has established itself as a European leader in the zero-emission vehicle market. With an impressive portfolio that includes over 5,500 zero-emission vehicles—ranging from battery-electric buses to hydrogen-powered buses and trolleybuses—Solaris has delivered its innovative technology across 25 countries. The enduring partnership with MZA Warsaw, which began over 28 years ago, has seen nearly 1,350 buses supplied to the city. Since the introduction of the first electric Solaris buses in 2015, the operator’s fleet has grown to include 163 battery-electric Solaris buses. Furthermore, Solaris is nearing the completion of another order placed in 2023, which will boost the operator’s total count to 224 electric buses. This expansion is set to reinforce Warsaw’s position as a leader in sustainable urban transit.
