Subaru plans to unveil a new battery-electric SUV at the 2026 New York International Auto Show. The vehicle will make its global debut on April 1, marking the automaker’s latest push into electrification.
Highlights
- 420 horsepower confirmed for the new all-electric SUV
- Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive carries over from Subaru’s ICE lineup
- Global debut set for April 1 at the New York International Auto Show
- Livestream available at 10:25 a.m. ET on Subaru’s show page
What We Know So Far
Subaru has released limited details ahead of the reveal. The automaker confirmed 420 hp and its signature Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system. However, battery capacity, range estimates, platform details, and pricing remain undisclosed.
The tagline “Fast. Family. Fun.” suggests Subaru is targeting performance-oriented family buyers. That positioning would place the vehicle alongside competitors like the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Toyota bZ4X, and Kia EV6.
Where This Fits
Subaru currently offers the Solterra, a compact electric SUV co-developed with Toyota on the e-TNGA platform. A 420-hp rating would represent a significant step up from the Solterra’s output. It also suggests the new model may sit on a different platform or use a dual-motor configuration.
Additional details are expected at the April 1 reveal. More information is available at Subaru’s media site.
