Terawatt Infrastructure has activated its latest commercial EV charging facility along Interstate 10 in Rialto, California. The site provides 18 pull-through DC fast-charging stalls and 55 bobtail parking spaces, supporting heavy-duty fleet operations on one of the nation’s primary freight corridors.
Highlights
- 18 pull-through 350kW DC fast-charging stalls designed for Class 6-8 commercial vehicles
- 55 bobtail parking stalls with 24/7 gated access and 360-degree camera security
- Strategic I-10 corridor placement connecting Ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles through Vernon, Commerce, and Rialto
- Solar canopies and 100% renewable energy powering every session.
Strategic Corridor Integration
The Rialto facility completes an electrified freight lane extending from Southern California’s major ports through key distribution hubs. Neha Palmer, CEO and co-founder of Terawatt, emphasized the site’s role in enabling multi-route fleet operations across vehicle classes without operational delays.
“Our network enables companies to reduce emissions and run a variety of routes across a number of vehicle classes with the confidence of a dependable charging solution,” Palmer stated.
Technical Specifications and Site Features
Charging Infrastructure
The facility deploys 350kW DC fast-charging technology across all 18 pull-through stalls. This configuration eliminates trailer disconnection requirements and reduces dwell time for Class 6-8 trucks.
Operational Amenities
Terawatt designed the site to support extended fleet operations:
- Driver lounge facility with Wi-Fi, climate control, and restroom access
- License plate recognition system for automated entry
- Solar canopy integration supplementing grid-supplied renewable energy
- 24/7 security infrastructure including perimeter cameras and controlled access gates
Tom Jackson, Senior Vice President of Operations at Terawatt, identified uptime and security as primary design parameters. The facility’s physical and cybersecurity measures protect vehicles, cargo, and personnel while maintaining charging availability.
Network Expansion Strategy
Terawatt’s infrastructure model eliminates the capital expenditure requirements associated with private depot construction and operation. The Rialto opening follows the company’s recent Rancho Dominguez site activation, expanding heavy-duty charging coverage across California’s primary freight routes.
The network approach converts charging infrastructure from fixed capital costs to operational expenses while providing geographic coverage that exceeds single-depot capabilities.
