TeraWatt Launches EV Charging for Long Beach

TeraWatt Infrastructure has unveiled the commencement of its heavy-duty electric vehicle (EV) charging site in Rancho Dominguez, California. The charging site, optimally situated less than 15 miles from the ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles, will significantly bolster sustainable trucking fleet operations for the largest container ports in America. With a planned operation start in mid-2024, this facility will contain 20 pull-through and bobtail DC fast charging stalls.

With a remarkable capacity of 7MW, the site is poised to cater to 125 trucks daily, which translates to a reduction of 12,600 metric tons in carbon dioxide emissions each year. The infrastructure will also present a driver amenities building stocked with a lounge, food and beverage options, and steadfast Wi-Fi connectivity.

At the launch event, attendees were offered a sneak peek into TeraWatt’s proprietary charging software through a test ride on a Volvo truck. In addition, PepsiCo has proclaimed its plans to utilize the Rancho Dominguez location for last-mile delivery charging in the Los Angeles region, highlighting the corporate sector’s burgeoning commitment to sustainable technologies in transportation and logistics.
