Unplugged Performance Launches Forged UP-RW Cybertruck Wheels

Unplugged Performance debuts the UP-RW Cyber Road Warrior, a forged 20-inch Cybertruck wheel featuring a 1,450kg load rating, aerodynamic efficiency matching OEM specs, and a replaceable curb-guard system.

Unplugged Performance has officially released the UP Forged UP-RW Cyber Road Warrior. This 20-inch wheel is engineered specifically for the Tesla Cybertruck’s unique mission profile. It builds upon the architecture of the company’s popular Road Warrior series for Model 3 and Model Y. The new design prioritizes structural integrity and aerodynamic efficiency for heavy-duty electric vehicle applications.

Highlights

  • Forged 6061-T6 aluminum construction delivers a 1,450kg load rating to support heavy towing and torque.
  • Aerodynamic flat-face design matches or exceeds OEM wheel efficiency in real-world range testing.
  • Replaceable aluminum curb-guard ring allows for easy repair of cosmetic damage without tire removal.
  • Direct factory fitment enables owners to swap existing 20-inch OEM tires without modification.

Engineering and Structural Durability

The UP-RW Cyber Road Warrior utilizes 6061-T6 forged aluminum to address the specific mass and torque requirements of the Cybertruck. This manufacturing process creates a significantly denser material structure compared to standard cast alternatives. The result is a wheel capable of withstanding extreme mechanical stress.

The wheel features a 1,450kg (3,196 lbs) load rating. This specification exceeds the structural demands imposed by the Cybertruck’s gross vehicle weight and towing capacity. This enhanced rigidity improves resistance to fatigue, bending, and cracking during both daily driving and off-road use.

Aerodynamic Performance and Efficiency

Unplugged Performance prioritized range efficiency during the development of the UP-RW. The design incorporates a flat-face aero surface intended to reduce turbulence and maintain airflow attachment. To validate these claims, the company conducted controlled real-world testing using three identical Dual Motor Long Range Cybertrucks.

The test compared the UP-RW against Tesla’s Foundation Series Cyberwheel and the Core Wheel. Data collected over a fixed route indicated that the UP-RW performs on par with the Core Wheel, which is Tesla’s most efficient OEM option. Furthermore, the data showed it performs slightly better than the Foundation Series Cyberwheel.

Practicality and Maintenance Features

A key feature of the Road Warrior architecture is the replaceable aluminum curb-guard ring. This sacrificial outer layer is designed to absorb contact with curbs or debris. It protects the main structural component of the wheel from cosmetic damage.

Owners can replace this ring without dismounting the tire from the wheel. This design reduces long-term repair costs and simplifies maintenance in urban environments. It offers a practical solution for preserving the wheel’s appearance over time.

Tire Compatibility and Specifications

The UP-RW is engineered as a “no-compromise” solution that integrates seamlessly with existing hardware. It is designed to fit factory 20-inch Cybertruck tires directly. This allows owners to upgrade their wheels without purchasing new rubber.
